You computer guys couldn't hack it anyway...jk...

Couldn't hack what exactly?

In My Humble Azzed Opinion the D2, Cortex and Denon HD 2500 are aimed at the non computer literate, and yes there is definitely a market there...

See the problem with those units, IMHAzzed O, is that while the rest of us are knocking down barriers they are imposing them.
Can you say UPGRADE?
Ummm.....no....reflash maybe, but can't hold a candle to what a PC or MAC can do for you.
Might as well be using mp3s on cd/r's in a player.

Got a plan B?
Do you buy two of them?
Sure you can plug in aux source, but does it all work if the core unit craps out?

IMHO its a marketing plan aimed at the cd jocks that won't give in to the PC format who still want a cd controller under their finger tips that want to ditch the cd's, because in reality thats all it is.

But really glad you like it, 'cause thats all that matters.

well Rick

I bought mine cause of arthritic hands and the simplistic way it works for me and bonus it works with the CD deck Denon has made compatible asmuch issues every software and controllers etc have had Im thinking having a CD or two around is a price savings.

Oh and my laptop will be my backup to the second power with Softjock Ricks software on board.:sqcool:

Arthritic hands have nothing to do with this Jon.
It's a controller whether it's a DAC, DMC, cd or otherwise...
But your case seems to support what I said nearly verbatim.

And BTW....they all use software.

Hey Dawg started it....tosses a grenade and runs...lol

Steve that Total Control looks like a nice unit.
Sort of spun off into hardware Chuck, but so be it.
It gets lonely around here, this is my only hang out in this forum...

Before you buy anything look long and hard, there is such a flurry of hardware coming out now, you might regret it.
This Numark DMC2 i'm messing with is wicked.
Our mapper in the UK has this thing down and fitting like latex.

I was merely having some fun which it doesn't sound like you were up for. Me "running" was trying not to get the thread sidetracked. I think you take your dj computer way too seriously Rick. Facts of the matter there are more then "non computer literate" (or why not use the correct term - computer illiterate?) people buying these units. Admit it or not, there is much less that can go wrong with the digital controllers then with a full blown computer system. Obviously one can't do as much with them as your system but there are a great way to go for many of us. Most of us don't want to cart all the extra paraphenalia that you computer literate's have to carry...

My crack about not being able to "hack it" had some truth as you guys are so used to your large screens that trying to navigate on anything smaller would be a great heartache for you I'm sure. I'm glad these puppies came out before I sunk a ton of $ into a full blown system as the transition would've been more difficult and it will be when the rest of you finally switch over.

Back to the thread! Sound cards it is!

I was kidding Dawg, illiterate...non literate...you got the point.

I also posted this... "But really glad you like it, 'cause thats all that matters."

As far as monitor size goes, bigger is definitely better.
As I went from a 15 to a 17 to a 19 things just got better and better.
When I first saw the smaller controller monitors all I could think was sacrifice starting back when that Peavey system surfaced.
Essentially its an ipod mixer, not that it's bad but it is limited.

Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers here, but the hype on these style units is a bit much for what it offers imo.
They still have hard drives, software and other components that can fail just like a PC.
So given that imo, its far from the perfect end all solution that many think.
Thats all....

At least with this unit you have a built in back up.
