Another item of note is the turntable it's self. An older turntable may experience fluctuation in the motor speed and this will affect your recording as well. Nothing is more of a pain than having your BPM's change mid song :( When I am recording to digital I try to stay as true to the recording as possible keeping all the EQ's at zero and recording into WAV format. It takes up quite a bit of space but when editing w/ cool edit pro and then converting to MP3 i have seen a big difference. for a converter I use Blaze media,.

LOL.... Yes I agree I have not needed to use them in a while and when I did I could not find anything since it has been that long I have not done an event with CD's. But I must admit that I bring my CD case to every event just in case if it is needed!

If CD's are useless how do you get your music?
Prime Cuts, Etc are only on cd, mp3 cd or dvd..

The Best DJ In Florida: Excuse me, I never said CDs were useless. Where did that come from?

To answer the last part of your question, I've relied on record pools, several subscription services, as well as store purchases for 30 years. In 1999, changing program format to mp3, nary a CD/DVD has been carried/used in performance since.

Now, using videos, those various audio-only music subscriptions have been canceled and replaced with DVD-video subscriptions. The videos are ripped (or in the latest TM Jones offering, comes already in a mpeg2 format that just can be copied DVD to hard drive), edited, and stored in .vob format on external hard drives. If anything new is not on a video, then my on-line audio-only subscriptions are perused. If not there, then the client will be required to provide it.

My personal experience over the past two or three years is that, as primarily a Wedding specialist here in the North East semi-rural market area, 99% of what was on those music CDs was ineffective, unusable, inappropriate, or flat not danceable, thus a waste of money. At least with video, the guys can watch a little T & A ! (wink wink nudge nudge)

A Houston DJ : Don't you mean a "cache" deposit? Nyuck Nyuck Nyuck.

The Best DJ In Florida : I often wondered if that wasn't the problem. I got CDs from TopHitsUSA forever (1991 I think???) then switched to TM Century a few years back and now none.

I have never questioned nor commented on whether one can or cannot make oodles of bucks using records, tapes, CDs, mp3, vob or even boom boxes. To the contrary, my stance has always been that great talent wins every time, even if its in the talented use of tools and equipment. You weren't putting words in my mouth again, were you? Maybe I just need to get a better understanding of your posting style so if I've jumped the gun again, sorry.

hehehe, They are not useless to me on the contrary, I use them as a backup if ever needed in case if something ever happened to my lappy. Since I have not used CDs in a while I have problems finding the music!
