How much system can you fit into a small car?

All this gear fits in Jon's '94 Honda Civic Hatchback:

2 JBL 15" PASSIVE speakers
Rack: 10U top, 6U bottom, 19" wide
2 speaker tripods
2 lighting tripods
4 lighting effects
6 cases of CDs (Caselogic 60-ct.)
Toolbox
Wide wheely cart
Cable tub
...and a J Mac

We just choose to toss the smaller stuff into my car's trunk (Ford Focus) to spare what's left of Ol' Rusty's aging suspension.

Pictures are attached for your reference. As you can see, Jon's car has plenty of room to spare.

Pfft! Amateurs! :sqrolleyes::p :sqlaugh::rofl::sqcool:

Hey Ducky,

I have that same Rubbermaid rolling ramp cart. It's one of the best investments I made at Home Depot. I am buying another one soon.

Yes no highs, no lows, it was a Bose!:sqlaugh::sqlaugh::sqlaugh:

You are wrong on this one Buddy. For the purpose for which it was designed, primarily home use, the AWM has over 30ft of tunnel inside to give it a booming bass. It is not designed for big DJ parties but I can tell you, I have used it successfully for Background Music, pool Parties, Small in home Karaoke Parties, Chamber of Commerce Business After hours and rentals for Seminars to name a few.

I got frustrated with the inablity of the cart to do zero radius turns, so i flipped it over and took a saw-z-all to the stops on the front wheels. They now spin 360 degrees and that cart got even better. :sqlaugh:

You are 100% correct!

Just make your own like I did. 24" x 36" Scrap wood and $8.00 in casters, some glue and bolts & nuts. The Black strips are the stuff you use as roofing. It helps to grip what is on the bottom..

What Ricky said and one more comment!

Why?

Why would anyone even purchase such a vehicle for DJ trasport, when there are so many other vehicles that make so much more sense and are easier to load and unload?

Well, Steve, I have Scion, which is pretty small. For my average wedding, everything fits just fine... But my wife has a mini van.... I can tell you that getting stuff in and out of the Scion is easier.

I agree most minivans are a pain to load and unload!

Actually, I look at the Scion before I settled on the Element!

But the truth is the Element allowed me to double the amount of cargo I could carry and it is full time all wheel drive which is a huge advantage to me because of the number of gigs I do at Ski resorts in the winter time! And it is extremely easy to load and unload!

Unless you claim that vehicle with your Auto Insurance Company as a Business Transport Vehicle, you are SOL if you have an accident on the way to or from a Gig. You may not get a claim for the vehicle or the gear or both.

You are correct sir!

In fact some insurance companies will not even write a policy if the vehicle is used for business purposes!

My Vehicle of Choice

It stays loaded in my Garage. It is a fully customized van designed for road trips and camping, all electric inside. The two middle captain chairs are temporarily stored in the garage. Presently, my JBL Scoops are at the Club (Nobody wants to steal those, they are too heavy plus they are not plastic :sqlaugh:). When I do have to move everything for a big Gig I rent a trailer to haul behind the van.

I register my Chevy Blazer on Friday. Much more room than the Hyundai Accent I was using.

Must be different in different states. I asked my agent about this and they said it would be covered. It is just like driving to a regular job. The job is being done elsewhere, not in the vehicle on the road.

Now the gear is not covered. The vehicle is.

Good point,,,, ZERO backup gear...., I'm sorry I will stick with my van and have a complete back-up system ready not only for problems, but if for some reason, I need two set ups at the last minute... and yes, that does happen here when you are doing the ceremony and reception and they change the location at the last minute....

Except for the amp ( another in the trunk- never mentioned), the mini-system is self-redundant. That why it's a mini, and that's how I designed it.

I'll stick with my trailer.

However I am going to get a little picky on the computer and such.

I also will start bring my Bose speakers in with me as well.

The lights and the rest...eh...it will be ok outside.

Oh..and the mixer will start being more protected and brought in.

I am getting a little more serious and committed to protecting my gear. Not that I abused it before...'cept my first mixer'...but still.
