According to Apple you can fit 7000 songs on a 32gb iPod but they use 128 as the default setting so ripped at 320 I would estimate closer to 2500.

To me... 3200 is a HUGE amount..... I would venture a guess, that in my close to 300 events I have done in my life, I have not played more than 500 - 600 different songs... 750 tops!
I will agree papa, for the number of songs I actually Play, that's tones, but you never know when your going to get a left field request and I would rather have everything with me than not enough...

32 is fairly small these days, unless a solid state drive -- which are pretty sad, IMHO (at least the current technology).
Anyway, my average for 320 kbps files, is about 8 MB per (that includes album art in the tags). So, about 130 songs per GB. 100 GB == roughly 13,000 songs.
