Think about this.... dates on your calendar are inventory, you only have so much inventory available, when the dates are gone they're gone and you can't get them back. Time is a highly perishable commodity. IF a client backs out and you don't have time to re-book the date you now have spoiled inventory that may not be able to be re-sold and now have lost revenue. IF you are selling your time during which you will perform a service, instead of a service and then set up your contracts and sales & booking procedures to that end, you are less likely to have the issues in event of a cancellation.

If you can find it, there was out in cyberspace somewhere a seminar presented by long time DJ Cap where he shares his experiences with Clients, Contract and how to go about executing with an attorney's help, a solid CYA Contract.
