You laugh, but it's one of the best coating for speakers used on a stage (especially as floor monitors). Maybe not so pretty, but the carpet makes it easy to slide and handles road wear better than a lot of painted cabinets.
You have to maintain and care for your carpeted gear before it ends up like rat fur.
My custom case is now 4 years old and still looks new. My EV Eliminators are 12 years old and still look great.

haven't used a tripod in years.
If someone wants to cover their tripods, go for it. But if your set up looks neat and has good presentation, I doubt anyone is going to take off any points because your tripods are naked.
