You were definately right about something. I hate when that happens! :sqwink:

I just had the opportunity to listen to some three way speakers at a karaoke. OMG! i knew they would be better but I didn't think it would make THAT much difference!!

I was absolutely floored. I could hear every single word clear as a bell when she was making announcements and you could hear every single mistake that each singer made *the only downside I can see*

I have absolutely no words to express the difference. This is definately going to be my next purchase even if it takes me all of next year to save up for them.

What kind are you using again?

Yup. I know it's hard to believe for the younger karaoke folks, but electronic compensation just doesn't always cut it. If vocals are the star, then 3-ways really are the way to go. You NEED those mid-range speakers!

To compensate for, um, less talented singers I use forgiving mics.

Thanks for the kind words!

Ah, see, there's the rub. I modified EV 2 way Forcei 25s to 3-ways. If you don't want to do that, I HIGHLY recommend EV QRX-153 15" 3 ways. http://www.electrovoice.com/products/258.html or EV Xi2123A/106F 12" (my next buy) http://www.electrovoice.com/products/34.html
Ben, have you got a price for the Xis?

My mini-system ( House parties and tiny venues) is run with inexpensive ASP5211 Audio 2000 speakers. These are 3-way 200w (400w max) little 10 inchers. They only weigh about 22 lbs, and are terrific for the teeny stuff.

p.s.
just noticed your slogan at the bottom of your posts
true genius!

Active on the 3-ways?

Joe, have you ever used an active electronic crossover on your 3-way systems? If not you will need 3 amps and you will notice an even better sound.

I do, but after a couple of years, we still haven't figured out why my Manage Files and Insert Image buttons seem disconnected.

The only pictures I can post are avatars. BTW, I was gonna re-post MY caricature avatar in your honor, but am still trying to find the file....

Thanks for the kind words on the slogan! I MEAN it!

Only my two bigger systems are tri-amped. The two smaller ones are run straight passive.

You are absolutely correct regarding sound of the tri-amps, but the two smaller systems just aren't worth doing.
