Help setting up club sound

OK,

here is where we might end up at:

2 JBL SRX715's 15" tops
1 JBL SRX728 dual 18 " subs
1 Crown XTI2000 for tops
1 Crown XTI4000 for subs
1 Dbx Driverack PA

Have any of you looke at or use the EV Force products? The Force I-25 dual 15 inch 2 way 600W speaker looks interesting. Do you think I would be better off staying with the JBL's? I like the EV for the 15" sub in the botoom of the cabinet for a little more kick. I would probably still power both of them with the single Crown XTI2000.
 
Hmmm, did ya read what I wrote before you wrote what you wrote?

Those JBL's would be WAY underpowered, and would not perform to their potential. Unless you go Macro-tech or i-tech on the subs, you'd be better off going with the MRX.

How 'bout

2 EV QRx 115/75's tops
2 EV QRx 118 subs
2 Crown XTi 4000, 1 stereo to the tops, 1 bridged to the subs


2 PLX-3602's would be better, but I see you're a Crown guy.
 
Honestly, Do they want an install application or just a portable. Also what kind of price range are they looking for? Powered or passive? EV makes a great line of passive speakers QRX which would rock the club, or possibly even go with PRX from JBL. QSC has some really nice powered speakers in the HPRi series as well. Then definitely go with the Denon mixer I love that thing and will stand by denon until they make something that i really really hate.

Switch the tops from SRX to MRX. Get two more cabs and another XTI2000.
4 tops, one BIG FAT double basted slapilicious dual bottom.
DONE.
 
I think Skippy was trying to cover some price ranges as well. We offer E.A.S.E. design services, and that is the end all to the process. We create a 3D environment of the room and it's surfaces, plug in some boxes and analyze the direct SPL, RASTI and RT60 results. Then you can KNOW what the correct system to install is, and WHERE you should install them.

Since you work for a sound contractor we can help you with that process, or we would be happy to work with you on the install process as well since rigging and other items will be involved that may be something your company does not want to do. If there is any way we can help, please let us know.

OK, here are some pics of the bar, and a floor layout that I drew up (don't laugh!)

as you can see, the dance area is only 21'7" X 29'1" (lower left corner of the drawing is the dance floor). We are only concerned about sound on the dance floor area, and don't want to blast the bar area out too much. They are using the Klipsch speakers in the bar area. I was thinking of putting the mid/highs up on the wall just inside the dance area firing into the room, and away from the bar. The sub wil either be built into the counter where the dj is, or can be built into an area in the corner on the wall where the fireplace is.

The peak of the ceiling is about 14 feet.

They will be replacing the flooring in the dance area with an actual dance floor. As you can see from the pictures, the area doubles as a casino/restaraunt during the days. Currently they only have a DJ on Friday and Saturday nights, and Karaoke on Tuesdays.

I'd get a couple of plastic powered cabs that have substantial bass response and high spl, like the FBT Maxx6a, and mount them up high on the wall between the bar and dance area, aimed down toward the dance floor. The boundary effect of the wall would enhance the bass. With a bit of eq work you might not even need a sub in that place.
 
I disagree with the above....

even the smallest places benefit from a tight thumping powered 18" sub or a Crown-powered Earthquake 18" sub.

The Crazy Horse was much smaller than the place he's showin' us....and the 'Horse had TWO of those Classic Earthquake Subs.

Matts right anywhere is right for a sub if the system is properly configured
 
Well,

They ended up buying from the local MI store. they bought two Mackie SA1521's and a single 1501 sub. Much better than what they had for sure, but maybe not ideal for a club. In my opinion, there is still not enough bottom end for a club, but they may add a second 1501, and definitely need some signal processing.

Part of the reason they went powered, is the ability to have a mobile system. They are only running the dance club on Friday and Saturday nights, so they may have some other uses for this system in their other locations.

Anyway, just wanted to follow up.........
