Arnoldo made me aware of a DJ in Florida who has lifted pics from my website and passing them off as his events. The really funny/strange part is the idiot didn't even clip off the "RickRyan.com" at the bottom. Part of me is thinking just a standard cease and desist email but part of me is wanting to try and tweak the dude a bit more. Maybe send him an invoice along with threats of a lawsuit? Any ideas?

If it bothers you ask him to stop. He probably will and if he doesn't make him stop.

Another question did he change the tags on them? I believe you name all your pics if you don't you should

Just a curious question here Rick...

Did you take the pictures in question?

If you had a photo guy/gal take the pics, then you don't have a copyright on them. So they can do what they like with them.

I take all my own pics. I own the copyright on the pics in question.

You could contact him, if he blows you off just comment on YOUR pics on his FB account and see his reputation go down the drain.

send a cease and desist letter kindly asking for the content to be removed. If he doesn't comply, contact his web host. They will pull his entire site.

I skipped the C&D notice to the offender. Arnoldo said he's a scumbag who lies all the time. I tagged each picture with a comment that they were stolen and reported the site to FB for copyright infringement and threatened them with legal action if they don't yank it. Oh, and for good measure I just posted about it on my page and asked each of my 2,100 friends to go leave comments on the offender's FB page (feel free to leave your own);

This has happened to me multiple times. I found my pics on wedding websites that I belonged too also. I called the other company straight away and they disappeared quickly. This industry is full of scumbags. Don't worry. What goes around comes around they say.

That's not a very mature or professional way to handle this. You are essentially stalking and bullying someone on the hearsay character assessment of someone you only chat with online. You can potentially create more legal problems than you solve.

The correct thing to do was ask that they be removed. You ask first, because you don't know that the images weren't provided to him by someone else or that he isn't just young/immature and/or impaired.

Secondly, you can simply notify the host or Facebook and ask that the content be removed. They will typically act right away - no threat of legal action necessary, and no need to solicit other people to stalk or harass.

Start taking pics that include yourself and gear instead of strangers dancing! ;)
