Y'know I noticed that they are 3U, it caught my attention when I just looked at the QSC website. Prolly heavy too . . .
What is a DJ on a budget to do? Maybe the thump of the $250 amplifier is enough for some applications? I just don't do large events with lots of people yet. Biggest I've done recently was a St Patick's day party for 142 people last month with my two EV Sx100+ and they were more than enough.
The most common comment I get is "it's too loud, can you turn it down?"

Specs like testimonials can often be what the sales folks want them to say. Comparing the QSC with this GTD dollar store amp is shameful lol. Send one off to Mike from Dynacord to put it to the NLFX/Dyna Xtreme challenge.

I'm very interested in following this amp. If you continue to have a good experience I will get one too. I really need a more powerful amp. I can sell my Peavy PV1500 locally for what that much more powerful GTDaudio costs and more than double my power.

i believe in you get what you pay for.if i buy that amp for $250 and i get 6 months out of it i believe i got my moneys worth.

Thank you very much drzinc, I appreciate your efforts in taking it out of the rack and opening it up. Huge transformer, two big heat sinks, two fans, eight capacitors, heavy gauge internal wiring, simple, clean design. I like it. I'm no expert, but it looks very good to me. Maybe some of the amplifier/electronics experts can take a look and comment?

Actually, the construction is similar to Carvin's DCM series. The Toroid and big power supply look much like the DCMs.
From what I'm seeing here, the list price is surprisingly low. A/B Toroid amps don't usually come cheap.

A little OT - Wiz, Carvin's DCM3800L is 16 Lbs, $750 and supposedly puts out the same as a QSCPLX3602 for half the price. Its also a 2 space.
Carvins Specs:
- Power: 700W @ 8 ohms, 1150W @ 4 ohms, 1800W @ 2 ohms
- Bridged Power: 2300W @ 8 ohms bridged, 3800W @ 4 ohms bridged
But its a first year product so buyer beware until the bugs (if any) are figured out.

I don't know how I missed that the first time... maybe they figured that the giant "Professional Power Amplifier" wording would distract me just enough to miss "Protcet".

I wonder how they are sure that the airflow will go over the heat sink reliably.
In the initial posting, it is said that the airflow is from back to front. That's good, get the heat out of the rack. However, once there is a little dust piled up on the end of those heatsinks, the air will just go around them.
If there were a shroud of some type I would guess that even if it gets a layer of dust, some air would get forced through.

Y'know I agree about the shroud. I was thinking the same thing when I opened one of my amps up yesterday to look inside. The fan is just in the general area behind the heat sink. No shroud, nothing to direct airflow. I was thinking of making some sort of shroud before I close it back up.

This is a almost a three year old thread why bring it back to life? As for the said amp it is still working as new, it powered 4 folded horns for over 6 hrs at a 950 student party.
It is rock solid even if I made humor over it way back when. Oh and Dave and I are friends still.
Gotta chime in on Z's comments. So far, I'm impressed with the amp and the wireless system I got from GTD. Last week I ordered 2 lav mic/transmitters from them and got it yesterday. For $77 I got 2 transmitters with selectable channels, 600 ft range (claimed), 2 lavs AND 2 headset mics. The design is smart. The power and mute buttons are recessed perfectly, just like the hand-helds. The plug on the mics is very solid with a single-button lock on it, by far the best lav mic plug I've run across. Not to mention the lavs are much smaller than my ATs. If these things sound anywhere as good as my other units, this will be a winner. I now have a single space receiver that will support any combination of 4 transmitters (2 hand, 2 lav). I'll have $460 in the mics/receiver.
