Peter Merry says "Believe it or not..many DJs in Cananda are still arguing for their "right" to enjoy the open bar"

News to Me?
Are you a full time DJ?
Last I read you are a Public Speaker, Wedding Planner, Author and God knows what else. With all this going on how could you possibly be a fulltime DJ
Do you not slag people with 9 to 5 jobs for being part time DJs? Meanwhile you are trapseing all over the country hawking books and putting on seminars all the while claiming to be a fulltime DJ. Do you not derive an income from this or are you doing it out of the goodness of your heart? If you get an income from this its a job and according to the rules of Merry you arent fulltime
Thats just one example off the top of my head
), I have never said that a DJ who has made this their profession can't have sideline sources of income. Tiger Woods is a Professional Golfer...but he makes a heckuva lot more money from endorsements than he does from his golf winnings. And he has time for all those darn commercials too. I wonder if he’s really just a part time golfer? There is no place for that here in the forums Peter, name calling is not tolerated here. Tyrone did not call you any names here.

Bounce~
The words I used were quoted from Tyrone...and he was refering to me...albeit indirectly...everyone else got it...how did you miss it?
Talk about a double standard...![]()
We all know who Randy Moss is. I believe he is the most talented wide receiver that ever walked. But in real life, he's a pri^%. I'm glad he's not with Minnesota anymore.
Another perfect example of this type of personality is Michael Jackson. I've never seen a more talented performer... but in real life, he's a pri^% and perve^%.
I hope I've made my point.
Peter, I am aware that you don't know me at all!
I would like to turn a question you asked around and ask you the same
…are you or have you ever been open to inviting a critique from a Hobbiest (LIKE ME) who has no qualifications to help you identify things that you don't know? If not...Why? Stubborn pride? How much could that be costing you? Perhaps you'll never know?

This "thing" -- be it "get what you're worth" or "professional fee" or whatever -- has been around for over seven years now
First, why is it that we have NEVER seen anybody who is NOT from California doing $2000+ weddings and doing them on a weekly basis?
…EVERY Friday and Saturday night…
Second, why is it that ONLY people from California are promoting the ability to DO these $2000+ weddings?
And third, why have we NEVER seen one of these "California $2000+ DJ's" actually move to someplace that's far away from California, set up an operation, and be successful THERE with their $2000+ weddings?
…are you or have you ever been open to inviting a critique from a Hobbiest (LIKE ME) who has no qualifications to help you identify things that you don't know? If not...Why? Stubborn pride? How much could that be costing you? Perhaps you'll never know?

Please explain further, as this is new to me
Nice selective reply.
My point was not so much location or demographic but if every dj within 20 miles of you followed your philosophy and became a million dollar dj.
How on earth would all of you find enough work to charge those kinds of fees?
Doesn't the overwhelming response to your thinking tell you anything here?
You are a special case in a special situation.
You are one in one hundred.
Please stop telling the world that it would be a better place if we all gaffed clients.
Sort of leaves that "burnt" scotch taste in my mouth thinking about it.
A trick or gimmick, especially one used in a swindle or to rig a game.
Why are you trying to change our value systems? Are we not allowed to have our own?

The Vinyl Spinner replied with:Because the "group think" here can't handle deep, intellectual, facts-based discussions that might controvert their self-defined ideas.
I do accept you your differing opinions…I may disagree with them…but I accept them. Do you accept mine?Thank you for pointing out that the "group think" here can't handle deep, intellectual, facts-based discussions that might controvert their self-defined ideas.
Thank you for accepting the fact that we have differing opinions, and thank YOU for BEING able to "handle" the discussions which are based upon facts of each individual's existence, even though THEY controvert with YOUR ideas.
