Got a wedding to do on July 25th.

You don't even charge a living wage and you want things to be covered?

Police don't just show up at a wedding!

You just keep trying to BS us and we keep laughing.

I haven't charged $400 for a gig since I was in high school and 16 years old. That was THIRTY SIX YEARS AGO! You are a grown man... charge enough to make a living and support yourself.
You bash me for what the price quote is and yet you don't tell what your price quote would have been.

I have one this saturday... I have a Facebook page for brides to see. I don't care what other dj's think of my gigs.
Glad you got a wedding to do this Saturday. I wonder with all that's going on how long has it been since you did a gig? For us since February.

Mix .. I still don't understand why this is a "WE" gig and not a 1-person one. Simple wedding, simple setup .. should be either you OR your partner doing it .. not both. I'm not aware of anyone else here that needs 2 people, unless also providing day-of-event coordination services or extensive lighting control.

We work together and this one you have to carry gear up stairs. There is no no elevator. My job there besides helping with equipment is to take pictures and videos at the event for us to use for promotional purposes.

Yes, but we all carry our gear .. without subs, it's 2 speakers, a controller. laptop. 2 stands and some misc cables ... something 1 person can easily do. You two seem to make things more complicated than they need to be.

Stairs , equipment ,Disablity
pictures ,video, promotional
so your not the DJ?

You know that he always needs to have a battle buddy. He don't know how to hookup his gear. Mix provides the gear and the transportation for his partner. It seems like the partner contributes nothing to the business.

My idea was for this venue just 2 tops and be done with it. He wants to use a sub to impress the people attending the event. I didn't say anything after that. The way to impress the people is to a great job.

For a general purpose party, it seems the partner has the rest of the music knowledge.

You know, that's EXACTLY what we've said to you many, many times over the years.

Great point. I forgot how much Macho is pigeonholed as far as music knowledge. House music and old school classic soul and r&b is his thing.
Honestly you said a mouth full. I'm not pigeonholed. I'm just not an expert with certain music and rather than ruin a clients event I will decline to do certain events if it's me playing the music. I'm proud to be 62 years old. I may know certain kinds of music but I don't faithfully study certain styles of music. Me and a friend of mine are both great DJs. We both know and agree we're not the right DJ for certain types of events and are ok with that.

Steve what we use depends on the application, type of event it is and the size of the room. I already said I would prefer not to use a sub for this wedding because the room is not that big that a sub is needed. Actually 2 double 15's would do just fine. Only thing is unlike my friend we don't have powered double 15's. I have money coming that if I wantes to I could buy a pair. I just decided not to as other things need to be done with that money and I'm telling my obsession this time a big fat NO.

It's a wedding and not a club event. Your single 15" Yamaha DSRs, with their fancy pleather covering, would be more than sufficient. I'm not a fan of using double 15s in ANY situation .. there are too many better alternatives.

These gigs are the reason that you really need to look at what it is you're trying to be. A pair of Bose L1, RCF EVOX, EV Evolve and a host of other good general purpose smaller, lightweight systems are a better fit than any of your systems .. and would have been a better fit for almost anything you've done in the past 5-10 years, other than the park shows. This is a perfect time to stop buying ANYTHING, sit back and decide what you want to be, and retool to make it happen at 62.

Based on your posts, you are NOT using equipment based on these factors.

Don't ever consider buying new equipment because you have money coming in. Sell equipment you haven't used (or shouldn't have used) in a while and buy equipment that fits your actual needs.
