Got a wedding to do on July 25th.

Let's look at this another way. Some places haven't been able to do any business for the last 4 months and can be seriously hurting for money. Even though a place may have been shut down doesn't mean ills stop coming. So some venues may not go by Covid 19 guide lines and just do whatever. So I would want to make sure a venue is doing things properly and just helter skelter just to make some money.

STAY IN YOUR LANE

STAY IN YOUR LANE
I'm in my lane. If the police show up everybody is a suspect and they will question everybody to get the answers they are looking for. What's wrong with the way things are happening to find out as much as you can to protect you? Please do remember we've never experienced this before in all my years as a DJ or in my lifetime.

Mixy your old. Stay home for your own health. Not worth the chance at your age for ($133.33)

That's just what we need, individuals with the sentience, logic and mentality of dramachoman serving as self appointed police making sure their judgment of what needs to be done is enforced.

Once again, the predicted slippery slope has revealed itself.

Where do you live that you are concerned with police?

BTW, I thought we were defunding the police?

The police, if they even have the time to show up and enforce things...
will not be "looking for answers".
The only thing they will need to know is how many people are in the room.
The restrictions are the responsibility of the venue, and the client.
YOU will not be held liable.

Don't waste your energy worrying about the police....
put your effort into the details of the reception and doing a good job.

My GOD, in 30 years of dj'ing, police have NEVER showed up at a wedding.

Where do you live that you are concerned with police?

And you are making $100 a gig? That doesn't even cover expenses. What kind of client pays $400 for a dj at a wedding?

Bring your snot rag!
I already said it. We're in a situation that none of us has ever seen or been a part of. There have been situations where police were called to an event that was going on in this plandemic. Just want to make sure things are being done right. City's and states have come up with Covid 19 guidelines that must be followed by any venue. Things are very touchy right now. Just want to make sure everything on our end is covered.

PANDEMIC .. there was no PLAN ..

No big speakers for this event and the contract is in place. The issues I have are with the venue and how many people will be attending the event? Remember we're in a situation like never before. We're in a planadimic and what restrictions are put on the venue besides simply wearing mask. What is the limit for the number of people who can attend the event? My guess is it's far below it's normal capacity to satisfy the fire marshall code.

I just don't want us in a situation where we can get fined or sued. Don't want the police showing up and shutting things down, with us getting fined

You could make some phone calls to find out the current rules...But that should have taken place BEFORE the contract

IF they show up, and that's a big if, they will simply shut it down and deal with the venue it has nothing to do with you unless you make it your problem...And I'll bet those 2 quarters from the other thread you will

Read that slowly and tell me what it has to do with you.....

Well, since Mix will end up trying to tell the owner how to be successful, he might be swept up in the ensuing activity.

I'm not looking to tell anybody how to run their business. I'm just being extra cautious since my first experience with anything like this. I agree with such things should have been discussed first. I'm not the one who made the agreement and got the contract signed. If it were me I would have handled things differently.

Based on previous posts, that might be a first ..

And if it's as simple as you say, just let your partner do it all. If you're doing things differently, then maybe it's not so much a partnership as it is a co-dependency.

More reason why YOU have nothing to worry about.

but just to stir the pot....
how exactly WOULD YOU have handled it differently?
