I'll keep it simple.
Glad the AKG worked out for you. Camera warranty & a throw away microphone warranty are two different topics.

You realize, I assume, that the extended "warranty" goes mostly to the salesman.

For $20, it's a disposable item -- I pay more for that for a trip to BK or Mickey D's.

I'll keep it simple. I normally don't take the extended warranty because most want you to pay a lot. I took out the one for the camera because that item cost me a lot. Best camera and most expensive camera I've ever owned. I took out this warranty because it was only $5.00. I mean for $5.00 I probably would find something else that isn't all that important to spend it on.

I agree with the others - warranty on an expensive camera is one thing. 5.00 on a 20.00 mic is alot (25% of the cost for another mic). To add, while it is only 5 bucks - that 5 bucks here and there adds up - and the stores want you to spend that money. If 5.00 isn't alot to you, then 20.00 to replace it shouldn't be alot either. If it was me, I would have used that 5.00 for gas, chips, soda, etc - some other way to benefit me vs them.

Yea but when you go back the mic will cost you $55.00 and not $20.00. It was on sale. That's not the regular price.

Similarly, 5.00 on a 55.00 item is kind of a wash too. This is a money making thing for these stores - and enough people do it that there is alot of profit there. I think most of us are just trying to give you a different view is all. I have always viewed this as - what is my out of pocket if it breaks and is it worth it? It's very rare to have an electronic failure anymore - and if you do, it is already covered under mfr warranty. This new 'if you break it' thing just doesn't do it for me in most cases - and if you read the fine print, the 'insurance' usually doesn't guarantee a model for model - and it may not be a new one. For me, high end equipment, maybe. Most other things, usually not. YMMV.

Mix, why do youfeel that you have to keep defending what you chose to do with YOUR Money? Are you supposed to ask permission from anyone before spending YOUR money? I can fully understand that your total cost on this item is less than the normal selling price. Thats good enough for me. View it as if the Mic was $25.00 with Warranty Included, you probably would still buy it. I guess a lot of other people would too! Just go on about your business man. Screw what others say, it is not their money.

This has nothing to do with him defending what he did. He is free to do as he wishes - and that has been stated. Nothing here has directed him otherwise. Nice spin tho.
