I have an external hard drive that is full. I know it has a bunch of duplicate mp3s on it and I want to find them and get rid of the dupes. Anyone know of a way besides seaching the file by "*.mp3" and sorting by name? I could do it, but it will take a long time.

Thanks!

I use KJ File Manager (works on mp3 and karaoke files) .. it will show duplicates and allow you to delete them. Does a lot of other things like fixing file names, putting "The" at the end of a title, etc. http://www.karaosoft.com/productdetails_kjfilemanager.aspx

Media Monkey will also do it .. and the basic product is free. http://www.mediamonkey.com/

Can also load up iTunes, set it to keep files in their current location and use it's duplicate file finding tools. Works great as well.

I've used 'double killer', but it's an older program that might not be available. Any free programs like this for mac?

I used Media Monkey back in the early days of MP3 and it wiped my whole music collection. It wasn't a big deal I had everything backed up to CDR and although I never figured out why (probably my fault) I never used it again

Media monkey +1, it's managed to miss a few files so i usually still search my root music folder with a *.* and then you can organise by the columns and choose size or title to grab the last few stragglers.
