I use the RCF system for smaller gigs and the Tops for Wedding Ceremony. In a really small venue, I've used two RCF tops and one sub and it sounded just fine. In fact, I've even used the Yorkville 750's with the 15" RCF 800A's (coupled) subs. The sound there is pretty good too. However, I now just use the York mains and sub and turn the volume down for mid-size events. And when I need more presence, I add the RCF tops as side filler to the Yorkvilles system. I'd like to have another LS801 sub but would then be overpowered at Low end...and then need to buy more tops. Sometimes you just can't win (lose)! :)

Art you have a great ear for sound and nice rigs for different applications. One LS801 is all you really need, 2 is really overkill. The only reason why I have two is because of the killer deal I got on the second unit back in 2008. I use only one LS 800 95% of the time. The other one is nicely covered in my basement.
 
Thanks, JohnThe1, for the compliment. You are of course correct in that I really don't need a second LS801P sub for the events that I play. I did an outdoor picnic recently with the Yorkville system and two RCF tops for rear-to-side filler. Felt sorry for where they placed me...in the direct line of fire for anyone wanting to get from one side of the field to the other. They had to pass in front of my speakers. I could have played them much louder but then somebody would have had hearing issues, so I didn't. The Yorks were raised pretty high, but only as high as the tent front flap...needed to shelter them from direct sunlight. I believe had they been anothere 2-feet higher I could have made a serious impact on those who were in Pavilion way out in front! LOL I'm talking 75 yd to 100 yds in front and side. I had the Yorks at 3 pm on the dial and the sub only at 11 AM. The mixer Master sliders were only 2/3 of the way up to -0- db. I'm sure those who were walking by could feel the "thump" of the subwoofer! LOL By the way, I left the 90/40 button on the back of each Top in the "Out" position so I'd get additional Low End. It is recommended that when using a subwoofer to push the button "IN"...whatever that means. LOL
The RCF's were dialed down so I wouldn't accidentally have them clipping in the Red. I believe that I had them at about 2 pm setting.

I did an event, again outdoors, on a raised cement stage (where bands perform all the time). It was for a ALS fundraiser recently in March of this year. I started the sound check and when I walked down to where the vendors and walkers were standing and setup, some lady was holding her ears and telling me to "it's too loud!" I agree it was too loud, but how else does one do a sound check...this was before the event was to have started anyway...8:30 am and event start was at 9:00 am. I was a bit annoyed by this lady and "screamed" to her (because It was loud) that I was only doing a sound check and the volume would be lower thereafter. I don't know if she heard me. LOL!!!

Anyway, I had too much High coming from Yorkvilles and RCF. After decreasing the HI & Mid pods on the mixer, it sounded much better. I used the EQ within the DJ software to further mellow out the sound when using the computer. I still play a mix of laptop and cds. I don't quite trust the laptop and external HD yet. Besides, I don't have ALL my music on external Laptop, yet.

I primarily play off the computer anymore but I have my CD player and CD's at the ready. My entire library has been digitized but I will never not have CD's. Trying to be prepared for that magical day where the computer(s) and / or drive(s) fail.
 
Tig...yep! Even when I do have the majority of music on Ext HD, I will always carry CDs. TopHits has a disc that is issued every other month that contains the most played songs on the radio that came out on their weekly T-Disc. These Recurrent discs are a good consolidation disc, only 6 per year. I get Country and Hits in this format, and also Jazz and a monthly Latin CD.
So, once everything is copied to external HD, I'll only have a small road case of the Recurrents to cart around. :)

TS, I subscribe to everything they have and I've been really happy with them but I get the monthly MP3's and MP4's. My only issue with what you said is that the Monthly MP3 is a DVD and the MP4 is also a DVD. So unless I have DVD / CD decks, then those won't work. My road case holds a CMX-3000. I also have (2) CDJ-1000 MK3's. None of these will play DVD's and I see no reason to invest in DVD players. My CD's at this point are a failover (and if I need more, I'll make more). The CD's I carry would perfectly cover this in the event that my machine died.
 
Let me also add - that the CDJ's will play MP3 CD's - so if you converted the MP3's from DVD to CD, you could make this work.
 
Tig...about 5 months ago I reduced my TopHits subscription to only monthly MP3. Added weekly Prime Cuts subscription along with Jazz and Latin. Each month when I get the TopHitsMP3, I make a CD that plays on my Numark player of (1) Recurrent Country, (2) Recurrent Hits), (3) Recurrent Jass, (Recurrent Latin), which enables me to keep up with the Recurrent backup roadcase that I spoke about previously. Sometimes I will do the Rock/Dance Recurrent, too. Although, I don't play that much Alternative/Rock these days. In my neck of the woods it is R&B, Hip-Hop/Rap, Country, and Latin (Tropical) and (Hispanic). The best thing about Prime Cuts is that the weekly PC discs include those on the charts that are Top 30. Also, these CDs also have a bit of urban/country/rock/dance/Christian/AC. With the two subscription services (TopHitsMP3 monthly) and (Prime Custs weekly) I spend only $10 more per month than what I used to spend for only the TopHits previous subscriiption. Thanks to Rob Drachler, TM Centrury, I'm doing just fine now.
