If the power of your transmitter is fixed, then how is changing the antenna at the transmission end going to increase field strength? I don't see how minor changes in efficiency will make up for what is essentially a small power output?


Im not trying to increase the power of it. Just wanting to get a further distance. With the small rubber antenna that is on the transmitter, it just didnt have the range. All Im wanting to do is just raise the antenna just a bit to get a further range at car shows. Im not worried about it here at home.

Your range is a function of the power output - the antenna size is a function of the pilot wavelength being produced.

Raising the antenna higher will not increase range - only improve your line of site transmission where it is currently reduced by surrounding objects. The signal will still fall of at the same distance from the transmitter as predicted by the unit's specifications.

Your best bet would be some kind of repeater but, I don't know if that is allowed under FCC regulations or exists for this type of system.

I did check the FCC regulations. And Im in the safe zone. If I get more than 2 miles out, then I would need a license. Depending on the area, I can get at least a quarter of a mile without any trouble with the FCC. Also, as long as I have no bleed over to any other frequencies, its not going to be a problem. I have a list off all used and unused frequencies in the areas that we have shows at. All is good that part.
