Updated: It's also confirmed that if you're crossing borders for work related purposes, even to a state on the quarantine list, you are exempt from needing to follow those guidelines.
More proof as to the absolute absurdity and deceit in all this BS.

Even if the study is entirely accurate, It’s not 100% effective, and for some reason I feel governor of this state will never be satisfied lol. Gonna start booking out of state only soon.
No medicine is 100% effective. Some are only 20% - hence your Dr trying different medications and doses to find one that works for you.

I understand that aspect... my point was nothing will eliminate this virus 100% from existence, so I'm just trying to figure out the end goal over here from the people in charge. Learn to live with it? Get it to zero cases (not likely ever)? Win an election? Get deaths down to zero (possible but still unlikely)? And at what cost in terms of peoples livelihoods.

Exactly.
They (pittsburgh) opened up bars/restaurants on june 12. Half capacity, mandatory face masks for all. A month later now all the 'measurements' of covid spread are up and they shut off alcohol sales lasts week and now they're going to close indoor dining again. Several restaurants closed - permanently - upon that announcement.

At my wedding with 150 guests, no masks, no distancing...is part of the 'problem'...people are people and will behave how they behave, I know.

But as you say, what to do? What will happen?

Schools are currently planned to reopen- EVERYONE over the age of 2 is to wear a mask, temp checks, 6 foot desk spacing (like any class room is big enough for that).

Can they keep shutting down? I doubt it, for many reasons.

So the disease spreads...and we see what happens?

Can society be convinced to wear masks when outside their home?

In most lock downs that exemption only applies to "essential businesses" or those specifically released in whatever re-opening stage is in effect.

That's what's so ridiculous about all this - are we in step 3 of stage 2, or stage 3 step 2b having reconsidered several of the former step 2a stage 3 guidelines ?
If we need a spreadsheet to decode the rules - it means the rules are void of common sense.

As long as we're arguing science:

If a medicine cures 95 out of 100 patients, and kills the remaining 5 - it is 100% effective at eradicating the disease. :)

Life can be challenging because you have to properly define your goals before you start quantifying things like "effectiveness."

Let me make it simple for you:

Do you want to take your chances with Covid-19 or die of: poverty, crime, and ethnic cleansing?
Those are the choices presently available.

Yesterday:

USA: 61,319 NEW Cases
Brazil: 36, 734 NEW Cases
India: 29,108 NEW Cases
France: 619 NEW Cases
Germany: 298 NEW Cases.
Italy: Hardest hit 3 months ago...Now down to only 13,740 active cases, and only 208 new Cases yesterday.
South Korea: 62 NEW Cases.

The only country where it seems to be spreading half as bad as here in the USA is in Brazil. It's spreading in India, BUT they have over a BILLION people there, and they don't look nearly as bad as we do right now. India is always overcrowded wverywhere you go, and it is hard to social distance there compared to here!

France and Germany Seem to have got things pretty much under control, and seem to be fine. South Korea is the leader in management and has handled this Pandemic better than anybody else it seems.

China is only telling the world they have 8 or so new cases each day, but they are liars, and we all know it!

All these other countries are opened up just like we are, and some countries are completely open with no restrictions, and have been for a while. Why is it that we have such a hard time with controlling the spread compared to all these other countries?

I can’t speak for why things are not working here, but the things that did work in other countries would never fly here. Especially as we can’t have a uniform national policy, since the governors are in control of the restrictions more or less. Remember when trump wanted to open the country on Easter but the governors said you can’t tel us what to do.

In the countries that are succesful they took extreme measures. I have family in Greece and they went from full open to full close instantly. You literally were not allowed to leave your house for anything other than I think exercise or walk-in your dog. To leave for groceries or doctor, you called a hotline, explained where you were going and how long estimated, and after getting an approval code could you then Leave. The states can’t even get unemployment running, let alone set up something like this so quick.

as far as countries like India and Brazil, I don’t think they have the testing capabilities to get the real numbers. Based on antibody tests, NY’s case numbers are probably 10x higher than what we’re calculated since testing was not as available during its peak. In NJ our peak was in April, however hardly anyone could get a test, especially if they had mild symptoms. My wife’s cousins family of 5 all tested positive for antibodies, but none were able to get COVID tests since their symptoms weren’t severe.

Media is really picking and choosing from the numbers to make things look as they’d like

Bottom line, this is a legit illness BUT it's being capitalized on for politic purposes by the Democrats/liberals. Those people don't give any concern towards what's best for the country and they don't care about destroying your (or my) life in the process, just as long as it puts them back into power. The death count is way down (even with all the bogus false classification of cases) and the spike is tons more testing, apparently with an awful lot just being declared positive, falsely. Do yourself a favor, elect conservatives (not just Republicans) and get rid of the liberals.

Is it REAL or not? Who can say.

How bad is it? Again, who the hell knows.

The REALITY we have to deal with - fearful customers/clients, governments shutting things down - and what if YOU get sick?

A concern would be can you perform? SHOULD you? Even if it's just allergies and you're sneezing...what will the guests/venue think of you?

I don't think someone would have any credibility saying the virus isn't real. The reaction or overreaction might be political in places, but the reality is we really don't know how this thing works. I agree with some that killing the economy, in many instances, is worse that the virus effect itself.
