I don't use EV's now, however I have used their products in the past with great success. The qoute below tells all to me......a stand-up company ready to make things right.

Paul

RickRyan, Any update on your Live X's? I'm about to purchase 8 of them for stage monitors for smaller band shows and wanted to hear what you currently think of them.

I'm waiting on new amp modules. Michael Doucot emailed me at the first of the week that new modules would be here in about 2 weeks.

hmm how about that folks Mr Speaker Destroyer has proven the design theory a myth so lets see if we can now find out what really happened to RRyans speakers. Assumption is no longer valid.

I have bought many speakers, and it's still not necessarily user error. I've had to return a number of my new speakers due to manufacturer defects and they weren't because of a faulty line, just proof that not every speaker made is perfect.

Great point even Yugo can produce a lemon.

I haven't been here in a while, but reading through this post I figure I'll put my 2 cents worth in :)

Heat issues with powered speakers. I run some Mackie 1532's outside in the 100degree heat all day as a drum monitor, haven't had problems, even with them sitting in direct sunlight on the heat sink. That being said, I've got a fan ready to set behind it and let it blow across it to keep cool if necessary, even thought about making a fan module that snaps onto the back of it just for stuff like that. the power is there anyway, just make a short cable that passes it through to the speaker and a couple of 4" fans blowing on the heat sink should take care of any problems. My environment is louder, so that might be too much noise for you, but a couple of computer fans are quiet and will run off a small power adapter.

As for any manufacturer making a faulty product...well, one of my Dynacord subs had the edge of the woofer completely separate from the frame at a show. I did an emergency repair with some RTV silicone I had in my toolbox and it was ready to go in an hour, plenty of time before the show started. It held up fine, and they warrantied the product for me, but I did call Ben and make sure I could do the emergency repair before I actually did it. I could have been fine with the other 5 subs anyway, but outside need all I can get :)

CClark he claims he was running soft ceremony bacground music and it shut down in less than 20 minutes of being powered and running. Something isnt adding up. Either it was being setup incorrect or he got a bad unit but we will have to wait for a report back once he recieves the amp modules back and runs them. The heat outside wouldnt have engulfed the unit in that short a time almost in the off position for 15 minutes or even an hour. Mackie SRM 450's are the most hot running powered due to poor vent construction (they still havent fixed that). I have used those in 100+ weather for 8 hours no issues.

Jon, jon, details, details. As I said earlier, I was running soft jazz before the guests came in for the reception. This unit started shutting down about 20 minutes prior to the start. After fooling with it for a few minutes, I jerked it off the stand, put up a ZXa1 that had been stationed inside and running wirelessly. I put the Live-X box inside (in air-conditioning), running fairly quiet. It apparently worked the rest of the evening that way.

At this point I'm just shy of my amp modules being gone a month. I have to be honest, I'm getting nervous and not pleased with how long it's taking to send some replacement modules. I emailed Michael Doucot on Friday, to ask status, and am waiting to hear back. I'll be glad when this is resolved as I've had to go buy gear to cover Sept/Oct jobs. Not cool.

he bought them from a Snake. Its a credit to EV and Mike for even offering to step in when the dealer wasnt truly legit.
