I think maybe it's confusing on purpose?

Took HOURS to place a 'simple' ad and i've no clue what I'm getting, gonna get, for my efforts.

Concept is simple - ad to get folks to click for more info/download a PDF/ebook guide on how to have the best wedding ever!!

No clue what to do...way too many options, many I don't understand or understand very well.

I"m a smart guy, computer literate, but marketing is NOT my chosen profession dammit!

What exactly is the confusing part or trying to make happen? I mean I've done ads before... seemed rather straightforward. Pick an objective... or style ad (video, single image, multiple images, etc), and choose where you want it to run (facebook and/or instagram)... or boost a particular post that's already been made so more people see it... and then create a target audience based on certain factors... pick length of time you want it to run for... and pay.

It seems as if the process has slightly changed since I last did it... for the better in my opinion. But I just went through the process and made 6 different ads (all with the same language just different photos) and got all the way to the payment screen in less than 15 minutes.
I did a couple for a client the other night and same it was 10-15 and I was out with the ads placed

FB ads seem to be working for me. Yes, there are a lot of questions on choosing your market, but once you've done it it sticks and you just re-choose the same list, over and over again. I think the big key is consistency and number of ads. You also can't make them sound "sales-sy". Try to make them conservsational and run multiple ads at the same time. I've settled on $20-$30 ads, 14-day runs per ad and I keep 5-8 running all the time.

The other side of it is to keep clicking "Invite", every time someone likes your post. There's a chrome add-in call "fbliker" that's invaluable. It's at fbliker.com. It does the work of scanning thru your invite list and clicks the buttons for you. Try it. It will help you get a lot more people to liking your page.

Just be aware there are others like me that HATE to be invited to things on FB .. especially hate being asked to LIKE or SHARE something. Just food for thought.

You're not a 20-something female. I couldn't care less about 50-something dudes. ;)

BTW, my typical profile is always, female, 20-50 years old.

I may have to do that...First page of making an ad is 3 columns, multiple choices in each column, seem to be exclusive to eachother (so pick one)

reach? engagement? brand awareness?...yeah, all that! Not an options...

Where will the ad appear? I've no idea...in the main listings or on the side? I use FB on a computer, not a phone..is it different there?
What's all this instagram, and other things (didn't see that I could choose in/out on any of them...)

Min $100 spend...$20-30? Not an option.
Maybe if I have multiple ads running I can split it that way?

Who sees the ad? Friends, friends of friends, half of america...well, all of america came up but i had chosen women)

Clicks or just views? What am I paying for?

Facebook Pixel...wtf is that?

OK - still pic, slideshow, carousel, video..what's best and why?

And all that is before what SHOULD i be doing? Ad pic, copy, 'invite' (to what?), etc? I (so far) have them click 'more info' and go to a webpage of mine for a free wedding guide - they have to email me.

But then they offer 'fancy url' options....?? Do I need this? What benefit is it?

Any idea when/where/how often the ad runs? this is more normal for me to comprehend! Yet not an option apparently...

I set a daily spend limit...used to be you'd pay per click. They mention 'auction' as a way to pay/buy/price the ads? WTH is that about?

I want/need to do more ads...but I've no idea what i'm doing - so no clue if it will work, won't work, etc - feel i'm just handing over money to FB without a clue what i"m gonna get.

i'll try and watch some videos over the weekend.

As it is I'm busier with DJ biz than ever - 3 events in the past week and just booked 2 more for next week and a wedding for august.

Just about everything (other than the august one) have been VERY last minute. Like next week - a convention for thurs/fri nights..it's LESS than a week out.

Still gotta work on my dmx issue. Gonna need it for this convention.
I did not watch this video, but I bet it will help you. Watch this one. There are many others on youtube that show you how to do it.

Invite them to what?
They can click "like" or they can send an event inquiry. The main thing, I'm looking to ENGAGE them somehow. If they click like on the photo, they my fbliker.com plug invites them to like my page, and then they're going to keep seeing my posts (some of which are just pics and some are pitches of some package or special that I'm offering) over and over and over again. Soon enough, some of them WILL send inquiries for THEIR event.
