Ok...what to use?

Right now I use a Numark mixer unit with 2 usb cables that run audio from the lappy to the mixer so I can crossfade.

I want to try doing the USB card thing with RCA cables to the mixer instead. Frees up USB ports.

Suggestions? Lay it on me...No worries on budget. I'm assuming I can get something under $200?

Presonus AudioBox USB .. Was using it until picked up new A&H ZED-12FX mixer with built-in USB audio. Now it's the backup. Got it "almost new" on eBay for around $100.

soo on the A&H you can mix between two decks through one connection? Just curious...No crossfader. Looks like a main board. I'll take a look at Presonus and Behry guys thanks!

I use the Lexicon Alpha. It has real good sound quality.

On your unit is says
USB Type B Socket
Version 1.1, Version 1.1 hubs are not supported

I'm assuming that hubs are not supported unless they are powered...I'm avoiding hubs either way...but need to note that just in case. Thanks Mike for posting that unit!

Thats right. It wont work on a hub. I have a powered hub, and it does work, but the sounds is really scratchy. It has actually 3 inputs. 1 instrument, an XLR mic, and an aux input. With all 3 inputs, the sound is amazing.

No .. only 1 deck, so it takes the output mix from the laptop (and it has a return line to record). The A&H is primarily for Karaoke, as I didn't have as much individual mic control with the Behringer RX1202FX I was using and they had a great sale on Amazon last month (shipped for $407). For straight DJ work, I am looking at the Rane MP25 (sweet but expensive) and the Pioneer DJM-5000 (a tad more affordable) .. both have 6+ channels to the mixer (3 stereo pairs) and many going back, so that can be used with a multi-deck setup (and monitoring) and cross-fade. I normally crossfade in the DJ app (PCDJ Red Mobile 2 and Rockit) anyway, so it isn't an issue to use the A&H.

Here is my choice :
If you are using Multiple paired outputs, for example Two or Four decks and you want to occupy no more than ONE USB Slot then I would use the ESI Gigaport.

http://www.esi-audio.com/products/gigaporthd/ If I was using a Behringer I would have to use FOUR USB Slots and buy four Berrys

I use M Audio Fast Trak Pro's -----
I also have 2 of the UCA 202's and 2 Turtle Beach Micro's. all work very well....

JT - I have a Numark CM200usb mixer. Worked great til last year and one of the usb plugs went wonky.... I would imaging you could replace them...Rick?

Almost anything can be fixed -- just depends on how much you're willing to pay for it...

Hard to say whether it's the plug itself, or the DAC behind it. You need an electronic tech to open it up, and check out the circuits, and see what needs to be replaced.

Probably be cheaper to pick up another used one on Ebay or CL...

When I put some tape on the cord going inand puts upward pressure, it connects....I've swapped gprds, so I suspect it's the pug or how it soldered on the board (cold solder?)

I'd open it up and take a looky see -- I know you've had it for quite some time, so I wouldn't worry about the warranty crap. It's possible it's either soldered or pinned on. If pinned you're in luck (providing you can find a replacement), and just pop it in.

If not, I'd probably try cutting a tiny piece of plastic or cardboard (like from a notebook cover), and superglueing it right into the plug. Rube job, but heck, you might get a few more years out of it...

M-Audio Fast Track
M-Audio Fast Track Pro
M-Audio Fast Track Ultra
Denon HC4500
And when summer comes I'm looking at a pair of NI cards to run 4 decks and controlling with 1 HC4500 on each rig.

that's my plan......

Welp...I got some options here folks. Love ODJT.

keep em coming. Houston...that's a killer card man.
That is the one I have been using with no problems. I have two. One is hard wired in my console with only the usb end left to connect to the Laptop.

Canute...what ever happend to the Gigaport AG? What's the difference between G-AG and G-HD?
My G-AG doesn't seem to give me the best quality sound. Perhaps i don't have it internally configured. When I use OTSAV I am always asked to check the appropriate outputs. I use the Gigaport-WDM condiguration. Anybody who uses OTSAV care to give me a shout out about properly configuring?

The AG was replaced by the HD

How are you certain that it is the Gigaport and not something else that is giving less than desired sound?

I do not use OTSAV so I can't help you there. Mine is configured with Traktor.
