I purchased a camera on clearance for my grand-daughter last year... got a two year damage protection for it.... ( Different than extend warranty... it covered all damage..)
She had the camera almost a year when she cracked the LCD screen.. They couldn't replace it as the camera was no longer being made and to repair it would have cost more than I paid for it..
They sent me a gift card for the full purchase price and we used it to get her a new camera.... She went from a 5 mp to a 12 mp... and still has a year on the original plan I purchased... was it worth it... dang right it was...
I say look at what your buying and what it is worth to you.... if the cost to repair or replace exceeds the cost of the warranty.... better to be safe than sorry...
