I was just going to try ripping a DVD with Decrypter. I noticed that the DVD has 47 separate song videos but there are only 8 showing up as VOB files on the screen. Will they rip as separate tracks?

Check to make sure you're in IFO mode, and your settings are set to split by chapter. You should now see the same number of chapters as videos on the disc, and they will rip as 47 separate tracks.

Thanks Steve, I see them all now. :)

Also, I will be using Mixmeister for playback which will play AVI or WMV files. Should I just use a free program like: http://www.convertvobtoavi.com/

I tried to convert to WMV but the video doesn't look very good. Would AVI be better? Should I use a better converter?

DVD Decrypter rips to .vob/.mpg2. What ripper does Mixmeister suggest?

Steve, Mixmeister will run on AVI or WMV but from the MM forums, the preferred format is WMV. Is there a good ripper to go directly to WMV or should I just use Decrypter and then convert to WMV?

I don't know, that's why I asked what Mixmeister suggests.

how would you convert them to mp4s?

There's a number of converting software available..Most good ones aren't free.

I use "AVS video converter" I think it was $30 for the full version, And you get free updates. A great deal too me.

I use ImToo DVD ripper ultimate.

It can rip each track (or chapter) as an individual file and takes about 2 hours to rip an entire dvd with separate tracks.

I use it for my concert DVDs so I can put the audio of them onto the Ipod.

It rips in just about every format and quality you can name.

I also use and like the ImToo products. Super-simple to use and great quality.
