I have a dry wedding coming up Friday. I haven't done a dry weddng in 6-7 years...The last time I did a dry wedding, people bolted really early after finding out there was no alcohol being served.

You should be packing up by 8:30 unless there are a lot of kids for you to baby sit!
I hear you...it's more fun when people stay. From my observations, people tend to stay longer if alcohol is available. Hopefully, it should still be a fun night for you, even if you do end early.
I do a fair amount of weddings that are dry for one reason or another. Possibly the B&G don't drink and can't justify paying a huge bar bill, or it could be for religious reasons. Most of the guests will already know that it will be a dry wedding, so it won't be a big shocker to them. There will be some guests that will sneak out to their car and some will leave early, but other than that, do the same outstanding job that you always do.
One of the best receptions I had was for a bunch of devout Baptists. Not a drop of ETOH in the house, but everyone had a blast and stayed until the end of the party. Another dry reception was for a personal friend of mine, Mike Hunt (honest- his real name- I had to call him Michael all night). He was waiting trial for a DUI related incident, so obviously no alcohol was provided at his reception in case the P.O. stopped by (however his guests all came prepared).

We just did a dry wedding Saturday night. I should say the wedding party did not provide alcohol, but beverages were available at lounge at the venue. Most of the older people left shortly after the meal, but the younger crowd stuck with us until the end!

During my meetings with the bride and groom before the big day they had asked me to bring the karaoke, but they did not think that it would be used. They both stated that since there would not be any alcohol served they did not think that their friends would do karaoke!
It turned out to be the best wedding that we have done to date. Every song that we played we had a crowd on the dance floor!
The only problem we had during the night was during the Macarena my computer locked into a loop. When it locked up I noticed that there was a little bit of water on the equipment. I then looked up and saw that the A/C vent was dripping. Put a cd in, shielded the equipment with some plastic and the party went on. Rebooted the computer and did not have another glitch the rest of the night!
For a dry party, storms all day and extremely high humidity this wedding went way better than any of us ever expected. Hopefully yours will be as great as our dry party was!

Not all dry receptions are the same! Case in point: this past Saturday night. The only alcohol there was the champagne for the toast, but this crowd was exceptional. Despite a number of things that went wrong, I had dancers and partyers all the way to the end of the event (11 PM). A complete surprise.

Here in Florida I run into these once in a while I have done 3 alone this year 2 went to OT doesn't mean no booze = skunk. Many of the people who are coming may not drink anyway...You should be fine

Well, my dry wedding was earlier tonight. I could've gotten away with 1 L1 and 2 B2s, but ended up with using 2 systems. 130 people. I was asked about performing the ceremony, but they balked at my $250 price tag for ceremonies. Oh well. 2 Kids with old Peavey's did it..Move on...
The bride had all of the say. The protocol was supposed to be 5-6 Hors D'vores, 6 intros, 2 toasts, blessing, buffet, afttr dinner, first dance, parent dances, cake, B&G, Open dancing...
Nope...5:15 intros because of the 90* temps..then back to Hors D'vores, pics, then toasts, blessing, pics, first dance, pics, parents dances, pics, see a pattern do ya???
Very unorthadox..
I figured, while they were outside doing pics for 45 friggin minutes, do some open dancing, right??? My second upbeat set. Here comes the FOB..."Can't you wait until the kids come back in before you start this Rap???*...I was playing Mambo #5...Rap??????? Really??????? Ok!!
Back to dinner music...
30 minutes later...
Omigod give ME drink!! Oh, wait it's a dry fuc**ing reception!!!!!! I'm sooo diet coked out!!!! No wonder why I had 3 hours of sleep....Yes, boys and girls, I've been up since 3 am!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, people are dancing!!!!! Good, good...35 people is better than nobody!...
7:45, here comes my wedding party back!!! I swear to you, I think I saw them for at least 1 hour total...
8:45 comes, bride comes up to me:
*Hey Tim!, what time do we have you till????*
*10 pm*, I answered politely...*Is everything ok?* I asked...
Bride - **Yeah, great!! I just really wanna be alone woith my hubby in our room and go to the pool afterwards...** She wanted, well...!!!!
Me: **About about if we stop at 9??!! **
Bride - *Perfect!!, thank you so much for all that you've done**

Not sure why you're venting sounds like the event went well and you got to go home early and still be paid... I'd call it a success.

I have done 8 dry Weddings all referrals from the first one in the past few yrs. The group are of the Mennonite religion. All of them dry asides one or two which had wine for dinner. I booked a couple adding ot at 2 of them. they danced their butts off. Each referral came from the initial group and has spread to a nice run of Dry events.
I can say Ive not had a bad one. Yes the bride and groom being of devout faith likes to leave early to consummate and the guests the marriage for the first time (hmm imagine that concept) shortly after this move the guests generally follow suit. Early nights are fine if its for such a great reason and if the client is totally happy.

Just because a group doesn't drink doesn't mean they do not party. I have had several "dry" receptions that were blowouts, and you don't have to worry about dealing with a drunk uncle. Sure some "dry" receptions will be very low key and short but not all of them.
It's pretty much the same around here. If alcohol is nixed it'll likely be an early out night. If there's a cash bar, the guests tend to stick around.
Liquor controls differ from state to state. Here in DE, the rental venues are allowed to set up a cash bar at private engagements. A cash bar tends to keep guests from getting all chitfaced, lol.
We did a big reception party in VA some years ago that was dry. Over 200 people. After dinner, the whole lot cleared out of the house. Honestly, it was as if a fire drill had been called. Everybody walked out. I still had 2 hours to go but the B&G said screw it and let me go home early. I later mailed 'em a company check to cover the time I wasn't working as a goodwill gesture.
