Just wondering how many DJ's use the term "package" when selling their services?

I don't like using the term, but clients keep calling me asking about what "packages" I offer. Probably because they've just been talking to other DJ's in the area and want to compare prices.

Another term would be nice. Suggestions?

I charge an xx amount, and you will be guaranteed I bring enough equipment to handle the job adequately. Including sound and lights.

Not an overkill, and not an underkill.

I like the word "system". So how do you present this "system" when dealing with future clients.

I hope Val will answer this question as relates to her. I am also replying because I use the same terminology. Unconsciously, what the client is asking or seeking is what is best for them. The more you treat the client as an individual and special, the better you will be able to serve them. They will have the relief in knowing they are getting exactly what they are paying for in regards to their needs. When you submit "packages", more than likely they will pick one that may be inadequate because of the $$$$$$$. The DJ needs to first ask questions before giving answers (That is what good salespeople do), then you customize the "tools" for the job at hand.
Each gig can be different. For instance, you may need to charge more if the load in is extremely difficult or if equipment that you do not have is required etc.

I have a standard, deluxe and premium package. The sound is always enough but the different packages are mainly for lighting. Extras like a second system, ceremony rig or second location are a la carte items.

young...

Never have used the term because I don't have "packages".
I do custom make all proposals with the possibility of adding or deleting certain things which I explain during client discussions.

The Ultimate VideoDance System:
More than 35,000 watts of sound, two fifteen foot video screens, and 65 feet of lighting and effects all working in concert to deliver a high energy, totally engaging (& did we mention REALLY big?) dance experience.

I don't use package,,, I say system, but them I have "add-ons" which is Karaoke or lighting.

Unless the crowd is over 500 people I bring in what I need. I don't own huge stuff anymore :( so after that, I have to rent, so I would pass that onto the client.

But 95% of my events here on Maui are less than 50 people, so it doesn't happen to often.

System / package

I don't like "System" either even "Tooth brushes" are now system tools.

Every dam thing on T.V. is a "System" from exercise machines to coffee makers.

Seems the Media uses it to make something simple more complicated from a consumer point of view.

It's OVERUSED!!! :sqmad:

Yuck!!

I dont offer "packages"
if you are referring to different size sound systems and/or lights

I use the same system and set-up for all gigs (including lights)
but I price by-the-hour...
so I do refer to my offer as "the 4-hour package" and so on
