Honestly, I don't know that it can, but then in my case, not having communication with the Playback software to get the track info, and also setting up scenes for every track in my library, it doesn't seem to be a feasible option anyhow. I can handle manually operating what scene and when live.

I'm guessing for Tyrone, in a game intro setup, they may use the same songs over and over. Having a light show setup for a specific song is probably beneficial in that instance. For a mobile jock, not so much, imo.

Well, if you have a library of special songs that you always play at your functions, doesn't it make sense to have the lighting ques perfectly lined up with your regular songs? Just makes sense to me.

Assuming you can set up the same way each time .. another issue for the mobile guy. Movers, especially benefit from programming .. but rarely face the same logical point each time (entry doors, etc.). I think canned partial/sub-routines make sense and then stitch them together live might be the best starting point.

I hear you Steve, but "tweeking" ShowXpress, takes only a moment to re-aim lights to meet certain points within the room, then, save the new setting. And, isn't your setup normally the same? Set your booth in the back of the dance floor, and aim them out on the floor.

You can certainly make excuses for not using a full program, but if you haven't actually done it, I'm here to say it's very easy. Want to spotlight the bride and groom as they enter the reception room, and the doors are on the other side of the room from your last wedding. Not a problem... ShowXpress lets you re-aim and save the change in about 30 seconds or less.

I do that on a regular basis at the ice arena. I change team colors just before each game... Takes me about 15 seconds, and I'm done.

. I've been able to do everything I once did on LightJockey, with Freestyler, including setting up a virtual room for a virtual visual display with the Sunlight Magic 3D Viewer. I can't say anything about ShowExpress, as I have absolutely no experience with it at all.

Show Xpress actually has what they call 3D viewer and you can create the room and add/place your fixtures. Than my favorite part is that if the fixtures are loaded into Show Xpress you'll actually see color, gobo , direction of beam , etc all functioning in the viewer. So you can basically program your show from anywhere and actually get a bit of a visual as to what it will actually look like in the space.

No excuses for me. I don't set up the same twice. I customize my setup to the room or my client's preference. I'm very free-willy, so why would I create a show that possibly could have holes in the programming? I'm guessing there are many of us like that or simply don't have the need to create elaborate shows, such as needed for more performance grade productions.

Yes, but I don't do many shows any longer, and that music is always changing too!.

I wish I could show you all how fast and easy ShowXpress is. The learning curve is high, but once you know your way around, it's amazing. Think of something you want your lights to do, and it's very fast!

There is a page called: "Generator". That page gives you functions at a single button push that will amaze you. I am able to program a cool show to a song that only takes minutes instead of hours to set the commands. It alone is worth the price of the dongle you purchase. There are 3 options for dongles (interface) and every one uses the same program.

I use both and each have pros and cons as previously mentioned. I use FreeStyler on my shows that is controlled by my Numark Orbit. It, like everything else, has a learning curve but works great once you get the hang of it. YMMV

Go to YouTube and search ShowXpress. My buddy "Mikey Mike" has a tutorial that is awesome!
Miley Mike sounds like a stripper's name.
