Weddings DJ Placement at Venues

Oh by the way - I know most cant do the same as we do it here (security here is good)

but I setup as early as its humanly possible
if they allow a morning setup then its setup then
gear never gets touched at all, as there are many others that also have to setup stuff
if its in say a posh hotel or such

much easier for them as well once they know the best place to have the Djs, its usually set 90% of the same places

only a few times you may not be in the ideal area but it works out in the end....

I always setup up early Saturday morning.

And for you, Houston
I met with the b/g and her family at the venue for this Saturdays wedding...
and took advantage of the moment.
I talked with the guy in charge (the NEW guy at the hall) and asked about setting up on the floor, right next to the dance floor...
instead on on the 5-foot stage (where they normally set up the DJ) and he was more than glad to re-arrange.
what worked in my favor was:
this is a smaller wedding for a HUGE hall, so I had room to play with.
I chatted with him for an hour (about nothing in particular) and made a new friend.
I made sure I "asked" if moving would be okay, rather than demanding it.

Just proof that some managers do things the same way they always do things... (like the previous hall person)
for no other reason except that it's easier to NOT have to think about it.
