This was posted at the end of a discussion on small subwoofers I was involved with but thought this would be an interesting stand alone post in the DJ Gear section for those Do-It-Yourself-ers needing inexpensive covers to prevent damage to their speakers or subwoofers while transporting back and forth from gigs. I realized I needed a cover for my new sub and found that Behringer does not make one yet. There is a gal that I found from a review of the sub online (second vid link below) that makes a cover out of moving blanket materials. I followed the recommended link on ebay and found that with shipping to Canada, a pair would be stupidly expensive ($71 US plus $39 US shipping and then likely brokerage fees) which translates much higher in Canadian dollars given the current exchange rate. So, for a mere $21 Canadian worth of material I used the same idea and, with a lot of help from my handy wife, we whipped one up two (just in case I get another sub) that will work fantastic. Here is the first off the press:

This is where I got the idea so shout out goes to Dr Dre for the good idea:

i always buy the factory covers if available, whats a couple of hundred dollars to protect a $1500 plus investment.

Depends .. some factory covers are plasticy and better for weather protection .. some are better for transport and cushioning.

I like my 12' sub (evxa1) but IME you can't compare the sound at home (small room) vs a venue sized room which usually has a higher celing and concrete floor. The 12" sub really drops out in a bigger room IMO.

I like my pr12 tops and 12" sub - it sounds really good but it won't shake the place like an 18 will. I've got a yamaha stagepas 600 coming (10" tops) and am curious to see how it sounds and how it sounds with this small sub.

If you get a second one please post what you think. My 12's are too heavy to pole mount over teh sub but the yamaha 10's should be fine so a second sub is tempting..just my budget is done till next spring at this point. (i got my ev for $300 off a former customer - can't pass up a deal like that)
