Denon 2500HD Gone

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!
In 4 years I've never had a laptop freeze or glitch or do anything that wasn't user error. I guess I'm lucky.

If it was so gang busters why was it discontinued and why does its replacement (the MC6000) not have hard drive capability...They've completely gone away from hard drive units, external or otherwise; they now have to be tethered to a laptop....

I feel for those who paid $600+ for the occasional hiccup.....
 
Another person with no laptop issues. However, could the problem in HD2500 be linked to hitting bumps, potholes, etc. on the road and having the player shake as their is no shock absorber in the rack? Then you hit another bump and it makes something small pop back into the place where it's supposed to be?
 
Denon has gone to crap lately. They keep putting out gear with problems and leaving the consumer high and dry. The minute the problems are resolved, many months later. They push out another product, replacing the old one. which makes you feel like you pissed away hard earn money on a now out of date piece. For the record Pioneer does not do this. They release a deck and it goes 5 years strong before a new one comes out.

I sold my last Denon piece recently and I am now done with them. They are taking that same low road Numark took. As said above! A good laptop and your software of choice may be the better move.

Just for the sake of it, I deleted all of my internal HD music and uploaded 20 gigs worth of my most requested music.

The internal is running well, the search is quick, and there seems to be no problems. Its operating like it did when it was new!

One of the things I discovered is that if you have an abundance of files with that are not acceptable to the Denon format, the had drive can "hic-cup" if you will.

I don't know if I had some bad files, or if the hard drive is dying , or what. But with only 20 gigs on it, it runs nice.

I am going to re-fit the internal with a new 120 gig hard drive. 3 times the storage space, as well as being a new drive.

The Denon HD 2500 should have never been discontinued. It is a great solution for music media playback and mixing. BTW--it is a fantastic re-mixing tool! The hot start buttons, echo. filter, dump, reverse, and brake effects and pitch bend effects are awesome.

The internal hard drive--convenient, but certainly not necessary.

Steve that Gemini brings back some awesome memories for me. That was one hell of a board. Good to see you still have one in service.

You know you could be talking about just about any peice of technology from computers on down.... let's face it that fancy new computer at Best Buy will be obsolete in a month after ya buy it... something bigger and badder comes out... that's just how it works. Why would DJ technology be any different?
 
You have a good point Rob. I guess it's the issues that Denon products of late have that bothers me. When you buy a new laptop, tv or most electronics, you buy it with the intention of enjoying it for a few years problem free. Especially when your spending over 500+ on the product.

Why should you have to install an update to fix an issue that should have been discovered before it was released? I just think the company should pick a lane and stay in it.
 
Now myself I don't use the internal HDD or plug one in via USB.... I do have the HDD loaded with the Top 200 as a backup but I primarily use it in Midi mode as a controller for VDJ and have done so since getting it last year... no problems except for early on operator errors...

Problem is Rob - is that this was supposed to be the ultimate piece of "Professional DJ equipment". rendering laptops obsolete.

Laptops and PC's have evolved.....the 2500 is a white elephant, now abandoned.

Don't you have a Total Control? it's a pretty expensive midi controller
 
Jon - it's reality, not sarcasm. If I were a 2500 owner I'd be pissed, especially if I paid $700+; all the hoopla over this device and how it was going to revolutionize the way dj's did business, then to have them blown out at $299 then simply walk away from the technology completely.....

Overhyped by whom, and why aren't those parties responsible for your disappointment? Do you even own this product?
