On the radio they were talking about how huge this story is about Michael Jackson passing away, and if there's an entertainer (not President, Etc.) that would create a larger buzz.

Someone who has been in the public eye a while, (20+yrs) but is still popular & experiences a "sudden death" (like MJ, J. Lennon, Elvis, Etc.) Unlike Farrah's death, everyone knew it was coming.

A couple of people they mentioned that the media would over-hype:

Madonna
Mick Jagger
Michael Jordan

I'm confused by your post.

Other than Elvis, Lennon and a couple others, I don't think the others had the global fame & power at the time of their death that MJ had.

McCartney and Oprah can be added to the list of being a "Powerful" celebrity.

Also...MJ was born in 1958.

what does it say for the fenatics that wanted a bronze statue of Bon Scott

THE BON SCOTT STATUTE ARRIVES IN FISHING BOAT HARBOUR!!!

The Bon Scott statue has arrived in Fishing Boat Harbour!!! The exact location for the statute in Fremantle has now been decided and Bon will be positioned in Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour, directly outside Cicerello’s overlooking the Fishing Boat Harbour where Bon used to work as a Crayfisherman.

Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour is a major tourism precinct in Western Australia attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year. Bon is currently positioned on stage at Cicerello’s in the main restaurant area only a few metres from where he will be finally positioned. He will stay there pending completion of the site works outside Cicerello’s where Bon will be permanently placed.

Until then the public are welcome to come down and view the statue up close and personal at Cicerello’s whilst enjoying the ambiance of Fishing Boat Harbour and having a drink with Bon and some awesome fish and chips.

as I say everyone has an opinion what makes mj that so special...

- he is just a little older than I am thats where that mistake happened :)
 
There is more than one on that list that if they lived would be no where near as famous as they were in death

The media tends to over hype any major celeb death but of the ones you mentioned I donèt think Mick Jagger would be as hyped as the other two just due to age. Heès pushing 70 and lived hard
 
Someone like Tom Cruise would cause a big stir I think. Probably not like MJ though.
 
Kinda ironic about Johnny Cash. He had to die to get his records played on corporate radio.

I would guess that most people under 35 probably don't know who Bon Scott was. I have talked to many people that never knew there was a different lead singer other than Brian Johnson.

Personally, I prefer the AC/DC with Bon Scott.
