To be honest here, I am thinking of writing an article for a popular DJ mag, so if you don't want to be quoted, don't post or just tell me in your post...
here is the scenario:
You are at an event... club, wedding, whatever, you have a crowd, but for some reason, they just aren't getting on the floor.... you take your headphones off and check to make sure that music is coming out of your mains. Yep all is good.
What have you DONE... not would do, but what have you DONE. I only want to hear from DJs who are honest enough to admit this has happened to them.
To get it started....
Yes this has happened to me. I have played what I call "A" songs, those songs that you know people should dance to. They differ from area to area, so they don't matter.... but after playing a few of those, I see that they want to dance.
Now, the easy way is I play a slow song, that usually gets them out, but there have been times when either that hasn't worked, OR after the slow song they leave the floor.
When they leave the floor and I go into a song, I will start slamming in songs,,, playing like 30 secs to 1 min. of a song before I just slam into another one.... I will do this four or five times and turn on my mic and say "don't worry, I'll find one that you like"... giggle and keep going, usually right after that someone will come down.
Now this is the last resort. Of course I have said, come up, make a request, and all that....
Okay... any takers?
and please no haters, I will delete those posts...
