Considering Denon HD-2500

We do not have any more. They are discontinued and gone forever. BUT... for those going to MB, come see the new 5000. We have almost every Denon DJ SKU on display this year, and they will be up and running so you can play with them.

The 5000 seems like a replacement for the 4500, not the 2500. The 2500 is more a standalone digital player with onboard storage. Does the 5000 also have a drive? Always thought that the 5000 was more a simple control surface / enabler for ITCH
I hear what you're sayin' Pete. The "why" is more a question for Denon, but my guess is that their feeling is onboard storage is not the way of the future with so many DJs using computers and software. The 5000 does have some endearing features (ITCH is built in, for example) but I agree the 2500 will be missed.

Well, it looks like I need to wait until some other controller is cleared out for $300 or maybe someone will not like their 2500 and sell it to me.
Pete, the HC5000 is not a replacement for the HC4500, they will both coexist.
HC4500 can be used with various DJ applications as its open MIDI.
Many have provided native support for this solid deck.
HC5000 is a dedicated Serato ITCH controller with integrated sound card designed to match the needs of Mobile DJs. Its hassle free configuration for MAC or PC, just plug and play and she works on the rock solid proven serato platform.
So does that mean that the 4500 will remain the generic MIDI controller, the 5000 will be Serato ITCH only and there esentially to have a digital player you'll have to leave the 19 inch dual deck form factor?
Can we hope that this is the quiet before the storm, awaiting a new device that looses the negatives of the 2500? As I see it, better midi control, addressable LCD screen, and larger drive support?
Also, does the 4500 and 2500 share the same quality of sound card? Also has there ever been any thought about bringing a sound card into the x500 or x900 mixer? Personally I'd see a lot of value in that, allowing me to really slim down my systems for basic parties, ceremonies and background stuff.

I have 2 2500's and a 4500. The 2500 can use an external USB drive, so storage size is really not an issue. The 40g internal drive is great for the "no brainer" stuff. I find the DAC's in both the 2500 and 4500 to be quite good.
As to sound card on the board, think about this. Most boards these days are input assignable, take you outs from the 3500 or 4500 and assign, all done!
I use one of my 2500's in the big wedding rack as backup, and as midi control for Serato scratch live or OTS.

Correct as to "current" lineup.
No plans for another HD at this time, but feedback of needs are always welcome.
The HD2500 offers 16-bit / 44.1k Sampling Freq
The HC4500 offers 16-bit / 44.1/48/96k Sampling Freq
Not at this time, but again, thanks for the input.
Even if you pay more tham $300. It's worth it.
I have 2 of them. The first one, I think I paid $700. It was worth it.
