I'd play oldies (Doo-Wop, Motown, etc) because a) I know the genre well and b) you really cannot go wrong with them as far as offensive lyrics. They're like the Switzerland of genres. Pretty much everyone likes the golden oldies even younger folks know the more popular songs.

My take on this is I'm playing my favorite music for me and my friends, playing what we want to hear and anyone that wants to join us at this large outdoor venue can, but I'm not trying to please them. So, it's alt rock for me! In fact I could simply setup my PA, get an Sirius/XM receiver and tune into their Lithium station and be one of the party people!

Scott,
We are going to tar and feather you for that answer. Be careful, they did it to me once, the feathers came off but the tar........thats another story....I am still scrubbing!

Just sayin - If you're locking it down to one genre you might as well turn on the radio.

Nah...

Did ya ever turn on the radio, and yer groovin' to a cool song? So, in yer mind, you know what sorta song should come next. Then the lame radio programmer puts on something that totally blows your mood... :sqerr:

I recall this one day driving home from Long Island after work, on a Friday evening. I had a 100 mile ride ahead of me, and a couple hot chicks waiting for me to go out that evening. Only about 15 miles were on the LIE. So I hop in my canary yellow Dodge station wagon, flip on the radio on the awesome stereo, and start cruising. Great tune comes on (Highway Star - Deep Purple ). We're rolling at about 70 mph, bumper to bumper. It's July and everybody has their windows down, and we're mostly all listening to the same station.

BOOM! After that, Elton John, Don't Let The Sun Come Down On Me comes on... :BangHead:

Traffic came to a standstill. Took another hour to go the next 10 miles -- no accidents either. It just blew everyone's minds!

They could of played Steppenwolf or something, but NO...

So, even though they were the same genre, it doesn't mean you program that particular song during rush hour in NY -- otherwise you f_ck up traffic, and make a whole bunch of us late for our dates... ;)

How could "everyone" in the crowd enjoy only one genre of music? :triconfused:

Is this crowd a bunch of mindless robots?

Maybe you never attended a Classical Concert or Opera!

Nah -- mindless robots, are those that don't understand a hypothetical/what if scenario, meant to elicit a response based upon specific criteria that was put forth...

In other words, just answer the what if, without questioning the why... :yomoon:

Rowdy mood this weekend...? Get laid, you'll feel better (I did) ... yorofl:

Rowdy? That makes no sense. I responded in the manner that I felt I needed to, nothing more... pure and simple. Methinks you are reading way too much into my post(s).

Glad you got laid and thanks for sharing that with us.. ;)

It's ok, it was a first cousin -- so my celibacy remains intact, as per the christian doctrine :)

Anyway -- which genre would you choose...?

"Why" is precisely what separates the cognitive individuals from the mindless robots.

But now your first cousins/goats can't sit comfortably.yorofl:
