Don't but probably should, I have a an extended standard body 1-ton van, that I had to get a variance just to legally park it in residential neighborhoods. Apparently there is a law that says nothing higher than a 3/4 ton can be parked in residential areas.

Hey Fuzzy...how is the ambulance working out for you? Any changes with it and if so any pics? Just curious.

It hasn't even been on the road yet. Still getting it road-ready, and legal to drive.

It's had numerous electrical issues, and now I'm seeing a very small oil leak and fuel leak...so, my dad is getting around to fixing those. I've cleaned it up a bunch, got rid of the lettering, and have been detailing the outside as best as possible given the weather.

The first gig is June 6, so I hope to have pics somewhat soon.

as I still use my van primarily for home use
I opted to NOT get commercial insurance.
some companies will demand you get it
if they know that equipment for a business is carried in it
(even if only occasionally)

I'm not sure how it is where you are but here in MA using your regular vehicle for business related work it must be registered as a commercial vehicle. My insurance didn't change all that much but the registration fee went way up.

Imagine getting in a wreck on the way up there with another person. You would be liable for the damages, your insurance won't pay because you were using your car for commercial. Why take the risk? I made sure I didn't get the bare minimum to be insured either. After my sisters wreck it is amazing how much insurance money can make a difference.

My Allstate agent was trying to work this in for me... it was just a couple of hundred dollars more than regular insurance. Still trying to figure out how to do it..,. since the truck is new.
