At this price point I may ditch my Numark Total Control for one of these.... I don't se all the fancy-schmacy nobs as is... and generally just use the jog wheels and crossfader.... anyway...

Does anyone know how well the 2500 works with VDJ?

I have read that it works very well....

The 2500 is a really good alternative for a dj that is use to juggling with a dual racked cd deck. I still use cd's and for me this device would reduce the amount of cd's I bring out. I can't stand the look and feel of DJing strictly from a laptop.
The deck at this price is a no brainer of a purchase especially since it's a Denon.

Seems to be missing a crossfader and single combined outputs.... I would want to do the crossfading on the unit and not on a mixer.... I would have to have a 2 channel mixer in order to use it.

Yer a DJ -- yer supposed to have a mixer silly

Now, look at this nice setup here -- you could remove the 4500, and just have the 2500 and the 050. Nice and simple (there's an Audio 2 DJ sound card velcro-ed in there too).

Controller/backup player, mixer and sound card. Sweet and simple, light weight, and groovy man :)

The Denon 2500 works really well with the Denon CD trays (4500)
If I ever need to fall back on CDs, the 2500 controls the playing of the CDs too.

On another note: I have no idea how anyone could properly DJ a function without a mixer.

Ok silly question but, why in the world would you put the power button under the dang thing on the right side.... obviously these things are going to be racked... 'supose it's DJ proofing... so we's don't turn the power off axidentally?

I have a cheapie AA power strip in my rack (with cool lighted buttons) -- just turn the switch on the 2500 before you mount it (4500 is the same too), then control the power via your power strip :)

So what's the point of having the HD2500 if you're using to control a laptop....:sqerr:...I'm not getting it...
As I understand it, this unit is designed to help vinyl DJs with the transition to PC-based systems. Of course, the same could be said for CD-based DJing as well. The advantages are true jog wheels and mixer sliders, things a lappytop doesn't have. :)

Not just that... but, for me at least with the built in hdd I can load about 37gb of music on it and should the puter sh!t the bed I can quickly switch to the internal drive of the 2500 and have my show running in a matter of seconds.... 4 to be exact..... My problem is picking through my tracks for the ones to go on the drive... a lot of songs but not enough space on the hdd to put them all unless I reduce their bit rates.

Good question!

A. Because most DJs today have a Master power strip or power conditioner that turns all on/off. There is no harm to the HD2500 to kill the power from the above methods, thus no need to get to its power switch or RCA connectors. Set it and forget it.

B. If we mounted these items on the back you would loose rack space because the connectors would stick out. If we mounted these items on the bottom, it would not sit correctly on a table. The side was the most logical.

There's already a problem with rack space.... this unit hangs down so low that it is impossible to put it along with the DN-X050 mixer into a DJ Capsule or any type of case and still be able to mount directly below it a set of decks...

I know because I own a HD2500, DN-X050 and an American DJ CDG player and while I can easily get all three control parts in a slant top it is impossible to mount a dual deck below in a rack designed as an 8U slant top with 2U bottom.... so instead I put my power condistioner ther with a blank above it.... and had to mount my deck in a separate case..... thus making a simple one unit carry in impossible.

All depends on the rack you own, what you have and how you mount things, but it does sit down about 2.5 rack spaces if mounted at the front. If your case is too small, time to call our buddy Ben....

Amen to that!

For now this will work as a temporary work around until the loan officer at my bank (read Ex-Wife) will allow me the funds....:sqlaugh:
