I was browsing around for some scanner type lights, and I found some used for sale that I'm really not interested in, but the case idea the guy had was sweet.

Get a $10 plastic toolbox from home depot or somewhere of your liking, and line the inside with foam and store the light inside it. Toolboxes come in many various sizes, so it shouldn't be to hard to find one that fits a modern scanner type light.

It's easy to carry, quite durable, and quite in-expensive!

Not a bad idea... wonder if a tool box could be found wide enough for two scanners.

I bought 4 plastic toolboxes from Sears that my Martin SCX-500s fit in great, I lined the boxes with eggcrate foam. You can see the red boxes in the picture.

(resurrected from an older thread)

Contico Pro-Tuff Bin available at Lowe's for $50.00
Gorilla Glue - small bottle $6.00
16 - 1/4" bolts about 3.5 inches long with rounded top, washers, nuts $7.00
Locking 3" or bigger casters $11.00 each at home depot. $44.00
Scrap heavy plywood cut to fit the bottom.

Glue wood to bottom of case. Follow directions on glue.
Drill holes for casters.
Run bolts through bottom of case from the inside. Mount casters. Run a washer and nut onto the threads. Dab a little gorilla glue on threads, make it finger tight.
Cut off remaing thread with grinder metal blade or dremmel. Torque down nuts with drill and socket.

I have 3 cases just like this. If you use these specific casters with the blue brake from Home Depot, I can promise you that you can stack these easily and they will not roll. I can't find them cheaper online.

Inside I have 2 moving heads that fit perfectly in this case. I had to dremmel out the top of the case just a hair to make them fit and remove one handle from each light, but its tight and safe. I cover them with the black blankets I use in my setup. Or you can pack 4 smaller scanners.
