I am looking for ceremony system since outdoor wedding season is here. I looked at the Passport systems and they have their uses but I am also looking for something that could get me by in a pinch for an extra backup system. I also have been asked about renting a powered speaker for speeches and such before. I have checked out the Passport, B52 100 system and a few others that are what I need and in my price range ($400-$600). Then I found a place near me selling Mackie 450 V1's for $499 canadian each. Should I just pick up one of these and then get another one later when finances permit or should I grab 2 now? Will I get enough coverage out of 1 speaker to do a small outdoor ceremony or be able to do a second room? I know 2 would be best but what kind of coverage can I expect out of these. I have heard them but only in the music store where they sounded great but it's hard to tell the coverage in a small space.

Young - Depending on what you want to spend

1) 2 - rcf310a'S 28bs of dynamite. With a sub...excellent wedding set up, I've done 50-80 person parties with just them....

2) 2 Mackie SRM450...I know...but with Long & McQuade clearing these out at $450.00....it's a good value

3) Yorkville NX55P

I own the Mackies but if posed with Steves choices I would go with number 1 the RCFs would be my choice. Hey young did you ever gain your free discs from Primecuts Canada?

Yeah Jon I got my free discs and signed up for the Hits bi-weekly package for the year. I am now a Prime Cuts guy.
Who is a dealer for RCF's? I haven't seen any on Canadian sites. NLFX maybe?
I just have found that the Mackies are a great bang for the buck with the prices where they are now. I may have to take a trip down to L&M's and check out their Yorkville selection. The local guy only had the NX25p's, for $850 a pair they were another option.

If Ben cant help with the RCF's I know one of the sales guys here in Canada who has the rights to RCF Canadian sales.

Young,

If the system you are seeking is going to be used strickly for ceremonies the Fender passport 150 is actually a better choice and cheaper than the 250 passport.

Ceremonies do not require a lot of power and don't need to produce a lot of volume, Cap's suggestion is excellent for a ceremony system as it fits the volume requirements to a tee, it is just a little on the expensive side as well as being a bit harder to hide than the Fender Passport 150.

If you want this system for more than just the ceremonies then the next choice would be the Passport 250.

The more I think of it the more I would like to have a rental system as well as a second system at my disposal. I am definitely leaning towards a pair of Mackies right now. I may head to the big city to check out a few more options as well. I am considering Mackies, Yorkville, RCF and EV right now. It all comes down to what my budget will allow.
