There is a very simple way out of this.
First, you explain that you only play radio edit music. No foul or explicit lyrics.

Second, you explain that you play the Top 40 music that the kids want to hear.

Third, you explain that you are inter-active with the kids, keeping them involved with all of the popular group and line dances that kids their age love- Soulja Boy, Chicken Dance, Limbo Dance, Follow Da Leader, Freeze dance, Burger dance, Cha Cha Slide.

Fourth, you explain that there is a far better chance of the kids having more objectionable tunes on their IPODS than you might have in your music library!

---- I do many school dances, in fact just last night I had 350 kids from the 4th through the 8th grade, as well as a dozen high school volunteers helping as chaperon es, for a middle school Halloween Dance.

I used all of these group dances as well as The Funky Style Hokey Pokey---and the dance went off without a hitch. School renewed the contract for 2009.

I played the Cha Cha Slide twice because the teachers and parents wanted to do it too. Some of the early music was just something to listen to while setting up the lights. The dance started at 7 but the kids started showing up at 6:30.

I played the radio edit. And Young that list was similar to what I played Thursday night. I forgot about Lady Gaga and had no requests for her. Anyone out East get asked for Elise Estrada?
 
I wasn't going to play In The Ayer but after the kids were filling in other edited out swears the teachers gave in a bit. I have a version that Randy sent me without the damn but it wouldn't play for some reason. The organizer asked me to play Old School by Hedley and it has the word hell in it at least a dozen times. I was also asked by a teacher to play some Avril Lavigne and you wouldn't guess that she would want to hear Best Damn Thing.
Now that I figured out how to import my playlists into excel and take out the unwanted columns maybe I can start posting other playlists like last weekends with 6 hours of open dancing.

Haven't been asked for Elise Estrada yet but I have played a song of hers before. The name escapes me at the minute.

I almost forgot the best request of the night came from a grade 6 who just transfered in from Mexico, he asked for Stairway To Heaven. The teachers all chuckled and said to save it for the last song.

I was going through my laptop bag and found my request list, one of the kids wanted Devil in a midnight mass by Billy Talent. A pretty touchy subject for the catholics.
