Riiiiight...........I'm sure if we give the gubmint a magnitudes bigger piece of the economy to manage, they'll do a much better job. <wink>
We already give a major part of our economy to the Insurance companies....
how's THAT working out?

My health care provisions are great, it is working for me and the millions of other policy holders that EARN health insurance. We already give a major part of our economy to the Insurance companies....
how's THAT working out?
Probably not. It just feels like we have a bit more control over our insurance plans. Having the government having complete control over health care makes many people very nervous here. Many here don't see hip or knee replacement as elective. Having a government employee making those decisions? I know the insurance companies aren't all great, but at least there could be some competition that keep them doing the right thing.
There is no doubt our system needs work and lots of it. But there has to be a better option then just handing it all over to the government.
I don't know which 'few' you heard from, but I can assure you that the VA .. and every other Gov't agency has not gotten any better at anything since Trump took office. You see the chaos that is within his own office and the offices right down the street. Being that these are the very people that make changes to laws and agencies (and none of them can agree on anything), then how would things be better?I agree!
The Government can't even COME CLOSE to Getting the VA ran in order. IT's dysfunctional, and always has been. Plus the Government takes forever to do anything it seems. (I have heard from a few that it has gotten better since Trump took office, but only marginally).
Imagine if Government Ran EVERYONE's Health Care.

I think there needs to be reform, and perhaps much more regulation on what hospitals can charge, as well as what pharmaceutical companies can charge for their drugs. The fact that Americans pay 3x to 10x MORE MONEY for the same prescriptions compared to countries like France and Canada is ridiculous. Costs for A LOT of services need to come down to reality, and be more "FAIR" so that we can get our current system of health care under control. ...If we fail to never do this, it will eventually be forced to turn into a more socialized system because the American people can't continue to pay and afford for the rising costs of Health Care.
I think the next 10 years will be critical for which way our health care system turns in this country moving forward.
I'm confused...
So you don't want socialized medicine....
But....
But you DO want socialized medicine. You can't have it both ways
The reason that these drugs are 3-10X more is because it's a free market with no controls. In socialized countries they negotiate with the drug companies and it's fair play or get out not much in between ground
I gotta say from anecdotal personal experience the VA was great to a friend of mine. They did all sorts of testing and multiple doctors visits plus gave him a very expensive medicine free. The only difference between visiting my doctors office and the VA is scheduling was a bit of PITA. Appointments are scheduled pretty far out. Getting multiple appointments on the same day (100mi round trip) was a bit of a headache but they worked with us.I agree!

Depending on location and load (amount of people), this may be true. I haven't noticed or heard of anything better with VA (or any other office for that matter). If you have an appointment, they generally don't keep you waiting - no different than any other place anyways. I've been to VA a few times and didn't have any long waits. The politics were terrible .. but I think once you're in the system, you're good. I have many friends that have been going to the VA for years .. and again, if you had an appointment, you were good.I was referring to the wait time, and how they were treated in recent trips compared to 4+ years ago. They told me it has gotten better, but still not great.

I don't agree with the way every dollar is spent. I also don't have any core services that I'm comfortable forfeiting in the interest of cutting my personal taxes.
