Hey guys, I wanted to get about $1000000 of liability insurance for my business. But because of the small size (less than $50k in receipts a year) I can't find anyone to handle it. Anyone have ideas?

Mike

Why would the LD need to be liable for anything, is your company in charge of rigging the equipment?

I'd love to see just how far the DJ insurance goes including big-scale gigs, I have a feeling that if any serious rigging is happening you're kinda on a league of your own.

As far as I'm aware in the concert entertainment industry, insurance has been done on a per-event basis by certain companies, I think the insurance agencies as a whole are discontinuing that practice.

RV Nuccio seems the way to go.

Yeah, I do all the lighting rigging. I also do the rigging for the camps and such I do lighting for. Nothing big, no dynamic rigging, mostly just truss and chain motors, that type of thing. So my concerns are buildings burning down, lights falling on people's heads, etc. I don't think it is going to happen, and I do everything to make sure it won't but there is no such thing as a 100% guarantee.

I will look into it.

Our policy is through a local agent. They are aware of the scope of services we offer, and the rate is audited based on numbers of events we do. Start talking to agents; there are policies out there. You just need to be persistent. Insuring for anything that involves rigging above peoples heads is not only difficult but a little more expensive.
