If you were a DJ Company at a Bridal show and were approached by a DJ looking for employment, what would you do? What would be your first reaction?

all depends if he was there as a future groom...
if he came to the show just to hound all the DJ companies for a job...
or if he already works for one of the companies AT teh show...
and was looking to jump ship.
either way... gotta admore his enthusiasm

Give the person your business card. Tell him/her to send you an email with a brief resume and DJ related work history.

If they do follow up (doubtful), evaluate the grammar, spelling, sentence structure and content. That alone will tell you just about everything worth knowing.

I would first be flattered. I would then ask him to write me a paragraph about himself.

WWID: Nothing, since I'm not a multi-op and have at this time no desire to become one. I would have politely told him that we were not accepting any new talent at this time.

Why go to all the wasted time of getting this guy to jump through hoops if you're not interested in the first place. Seems like a waste of his and my time.

Me??

Have a brief conversation with him/her and give them the mic..Let's pretend we are at the bridal show...Specifically the GSM show, locals know what I mean..

And have the person page....

****MR. CAP CAPELLO TO THE BAR, MR. CAP CAPELLO TO THE BAR!!!!!*** ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

If Cap comes, and shakes your hand, you're hired!!!!

If he gives you the finger, you're FIRED!!!! :sqmad:

Good for a lol...

Tim - I guess a lot would have to do with whether or not the DJ service 2 booths was blaring their music or not!!! :sqwink:

(And if you announce "Cap to the bar," you'd damn well better have an Absolut or a Blue ready when he gets there!!! :sqlaugh:)

What I have done..

I've actually gone over to the DJ service and ask them to turn it down. 99.9% of the time, no harm, they will..

There has been that 1% where the DJ was so cocky, I unplugged him..And received an applause from the other 50 vendors in the room..:sqlaugh:

Let's say we don't get along to this day...

I sleep very well at night..

Is it me or does that show seem to be taking on the air that we are indebted to them even though we're footing the bill, aren't getting the common courtesy an average customer gets, and now have more rules and regs that it feels like we're back in kindergarten? Methinks there's an angered panic happening there. Or, probably, I've pissed some folks off. (Oh, surprise!)

Where's my friggin Swedish Water?????

Back on topic, there have been times when I've been approached to provide training, not employment. After training my 26th friend now competitor, that's no longer an option either. With the exception of a half dozen, the others seemed to have selectively forgotten their on a golden platter business formulation stages. Such is human nature.

The reason for the question is that I will be attending the Phoenix AZ Bridal show assisting with another vendor (not DJ related). I am still looking for employment with a Disc Jockey company. I have written a brief history of myself and what I could do for a company. I don't expect anyone to discuss anything on the spot as I would not want to interfere with possible clients.
