Best Way to Split

PreFace: I've networked with 3 very good, high-end videographers and not one of them has ever asked for this. But, I got a call from another guy for a gig in August that would like an output of my sound to record the speeches. So, I was mentioning that to my video friend this past Saturday and he told me he'd love to have it, but alot of DJ's get bothered when asked. These 3 contacts have been referring me for quite awhile and I'd like to take care of them; it also keeps their equipment from out in front of my speaker as they try to pick the sound up.

American Audio mixer with RCA zone out. I currently use the zone out to my lighting laptop to operate sound-to-light functions. They need either xlr or 1/4" trs. Any suggetions on the best way to get my zone out split?

Use a Y cable out for each side with appropriate connectors/jacks

If your mixer has a 2nd master out (some of the AA mixers have a RCA main out as well as the XLR one), I would use that, so the output feed is exactly the same as the master mix. Those are unbalanced, so you' need to keep the cable sunder 10 feet or so. Otherwise, the zone outputs will work, just need to make sure you turn off cueing on the mixer so they don't get the wrong feed to the camera. If you need to go longer than 10', you'll need a splitter for the XLR outs or a DI box for each unbalanced channel to convert to balanced (then you can go 100'+).

If you use your second mixer output for lights, and the video guys only want to record the speeches,
perhaps there is a way to use the output for both....by switching it before dancing starts.
Can't imagine you'd need the lights during speeches.

You can search for one of these used (Or something similar) and just use it to route your output to several line ins in the video equipment. I actually have one down here in my studio and one in Houston and distributing the signals works very well.
