Bar Mitzvah / Bat Mitzvah how to?

ROTFLMAO........Dave, thanks for making me laugh uncontrollably.....you just made my day!

Obviously, if someone hires you for this type of event......they are not looking for an experienced Bar Mitzvah DJ.

(Same would apply if they hired ME because the handful I've seen over the years, wanted just music and no interactivity...)

Just go with the flow......let your CUSTOMER decide on the music and emcee level.

Make sure you have "Hava Nagila" and you'll be fine........LOL

To answer your question, there are plenty of guide books & DVDs on the market.....if you offer the comprehensive services & interactive games they're peddling....you'll need to raise rates to around $2000 and up.

Mitzvah's are hard,,, the first one I ever did was just like a regular birthday party, lights music, kinda like a school dance with better dressed kids...

I got a refferal call from that one and THEN I found out what a Mitzvah REALLY was!!!!

First thing, charge more, you'll earn it... the last one I did I had 6 sit down meetings with da family,,,,

Get some Kezmar music, Grandma will want some....

You gotta know about blessings, Candlelightings, Hora's, and getting the JEWISH TERMONOLGY DOWN IS IMPORTANT!!!

And no, don't ask me because I'm terrible at it. I raise my price so high when someone call for a Mitzvah that most of the time I don't get them.

Oh yeah, another thing,,, The Bar's are A LOT harder than the Bat's....

I'm glad it made it you laugh, but it was not posting this for that intent.

AND NO! I was not hired nor I was thinking of advertising that I can do them.

I merely was entertaining the Idea of learning the procedures of such events.

Matt, you better than anyone know that I've taken on rather complicated events and some people won't even get near them.

Bobby Morganstern (sp) has a great set of CD's out... I think his thing is www.bmpbeat.com on the internet,,, He used to always have an ad in DJ Times Mag,,, and was the King Of Mitzs!

With the stage name of "Tyrone"...

...it's a good bet, I'll never get a phone call to do one of these... I wonder why?

yes..

Does anyone know were to get some type of guide on the order of events for Bar Mitzvah / Bat Mitzvah's? I've been kind of curious as to how do they go? Any help?

DO NOT DO A MITZVAH IF YOU ARE IN-EXPEIRENCED!! Whether you play the Hora or Nava song 10 times..You must know the protocol.

There's a certain format you must use, lingo, music, etc. etc..My best free advice: Call a local DJ in your arera, or nearby area that *Specializes* in Mitzvahs, and ask them to coem see you in action!

There is $$$$$$$$ in Mitzvahs, more than Weddings, alot more!! But do not go in there blind..And you must LOVE dealing with kids!

The average here for $$ is about $1200 for 4 hours.

Also, do not do them alone, have 1 DJ and 1 MC...Motivational dancers are a huge plus! Great lights, and alot of prizes!!

If you offer video, great!

Again $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Good luck!
