Okay folks, I have been working hard on getting my HDDs together for back up purposes. So far this is what I have come up with:

CURRENT SET-UP:

MBP INTERNAL 250GB = SYSTEM OS/ESSENTIALS & PERSONAL PHOTOS/VIDS

3TB GOFLEX = ALL MUSIC BACK UP [INCLUDING TIME MACHINE BACK UP] (1.5TB) & PERSONAL PHOTOS/VIDS BACKUP (300GB) = SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX

3TB NEXSTAR DUAL BAY USB = ALL MUSIC MAIN (1.5TB)

1 500GB WD STUDIO FW PORTABLE DRIVE = MUSIC “ESSENTIALS” LIBRARY

1 320GB MAXTOR USB PORTABLE DRIVE = WIFE'S MUSIC DRIVE FOR WORK

1 1TB WD NETWORK DRIVE = Music Essentials Music Library & Personal Photos/Vids

1 250GB WD PORTABLE DRIVE = PERSONAL PHOTOS

FUTURE SET-UP:

MBP INTERNAL 750GB = SYSTEM OS/ESSENTIALS & MAIN “ESSENTIALS” MUSIC LIBRARY (450GB)

3TB GOFLEX = ALL MUSIC BACK UP [INCLUDING TIME MACHINE BACK UP] (1.5TB) & PERSONAL PHOTOS/VIDS BACKUP (300GB) = SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX

3TB NEXSTAR DUAL BAY USB = MUSIC VIDS BACK UP (1.6TB) = SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX

4TB NEXSTAR DUAL BAY FW = MUSIC VIDS MAIN (1.6TB) & ALL MUSIC MAIN (1.5TB)

1 500GB WD STUDIO FW PORTABLE DRIVE = MAY USE FOR BUSINESS VIDS?

1 320GB MAXTOR USB PORTABLE DRIVE = WIFE’S MUSIC DRIVE FOR WORK

1 1TB WD NETWORK DRIVE = Music Essentials Music Library & Personal Photos/Vids

I HAVE MY FAVORITE DRIVE ALL ALONE WITH NOTHING TO DO, MY SILVER STUDIO PASSPORT DRIVE WHICH I MAY USE FOR MY BUSINESS VIDS...

THOUGHTS/SUGGESTIONS...

Thanks... Magno!!!

I have three drives with my music, two stay at home and one goes out with me gigging. I also keep all of the important music for my nights event on a memory stick.

well you think the 3TB is big, the 4TB is coming soon (being created now) then the 8TB after that

it's the same case as my 3TB... I could have bought it locally but decided buy it along with my new internal drive for my MBP to save a little:)

My back up drive that goes to all gigs is 2 TB the line array system that that is part of my gig system is 4 TB but can be upgraded at any time. The line array system is raid and uses the other drives as a back up as well. Once I started doing music videos space quickly became an issue when songs are 50 to 150 megs each with 150 usually being the norm.

My vids average 50. 150 is a big video!

I don't have vids yet bu will jumpstart my collection via Promo Only in a couple weeks to prepare for next prom season when I break out video djing:)

@ittigger do u VDJ at gigs with itch?

In short, I don't do any VJ'ing. I started my vid collection when RPM released their vids and I included them in my subscription. To date, I do not play any video gigs and I'm reluctant to start. The cost for getting involved & the additional equipment / manpower needed vs the amount of money I'd need to make & the headache of what video might piss off who - that's something I don't need to deal with. I have used VJ systems and seen people go off on Top 40 videos for valid reasons. Dealing with audio content / lyrics is hard enough. I think having to deal with video content on top of that would make it not fun anymore. Don't get me wrong, video has it's time and place - I just don't feel it's the mobile venues.

FYI - Itch doesn't have the capability to play Vids yet.

I figured it didn't but wanted to check;) I am going back and forth on whether to do videos or not. I am a HUGE fan of SSL and would have to get the Video Plug in AND a midi controlling mixer like the DJM700... I've been wanting a 4 channel mixer anyways so I may take the dive... I currently run a DJM400 and I LOVE this little mixer.
