So, I've decided to re-convert all my CDs via Rick's tutorial.... not that I need to but because I want to clean up the tags and also normalize my files.... I follow Rick's tutorial to a T with the exception of using the Normalization feature of AudioGrabber.

The question is.... when bulk converting the WAV files to MP3 what determines how many WAV files you can convert at one time?

Buffer size :)

There is no set number, because it depends on your path and filename lengths, and a dynamically allocated buffer.

When you run the convert, AG grabs XXXX number of bytes for the full paths of all files you selected.

It looks like this:

C:\MP3\Tom Jones\Old Fart\She's A Lady.mp3\0\0C:\MP3\Rod Stewart\Maggie\Mae.mp3\0\0

and so on... Notice the double NULLs between "\0\0" (2 extra characters added).

If the cumulative path lengths of all files you selected (plus NULLs), exceed the buffer length, it will not give an error, it will just do nothing.

The buffer size is somewhat dynamic (remember, it's an old program, and written quite well), so nobody knows exactly what the buffer size is -- the program determines that at run time, based on algorithms made 12 years ago.

The shorter your filenames and paths -- the more you can convert :)

You can convert how much files are on CD.

And one more thing:Normalization is NOT a good thing in every case.

Yes this is true, sometimes when you are doing multiple songs in a crate, some may need it but others will not! What you should do is determine and place on a folder the songs that need it so it does not effect the other songs that are good!

Do you guys know any good commercial software that will normalize loudness of my mp3s in one batch? I have way too many folders and subfolders.
