Are you lowering price for recession?

When someone tries to charge as much as some of you guys...you just as well hold a gun to your clients head!

You would not be my dj.......you would be one of the "rip off" people I would advise my friends to stay away from!

I believe in getting as much as you can.............but i don't see ripping off my clients/friends as a right way to do such that!

I may not be the best business person......but at least I have real friends! Thats what matters to me!

Adam, getting what you are worth and providing value for your customer. This is what I am talking about. There is no ripp-off here. Have you checked out the average costs of wedding reception items?

Today's average wedding draws an average 0f 120 guests.
(some have much more, some have a bit less)

A three tier wedding cake is going for between $400 and $800.
For this exercise, I'll use $500 as an average figure.
Sit down dinner at a wedding reception is going for an average of $60 per person.
Beverage service for your guests is running anywhere from $20 to 45 per person.
Center pieces for the table average $45 per table
Flowers average $500 per reception
Premier DJ Entertainment is running an average of $1300

Break it down per guest

Cake $ 4.16 per person
Food $60.00 per person
Beverage $30.00 per person
Centerpiece $ 5.62 per person
Flowers $ 4.16 per person
Entertainment $ 10.83 per person

The entire event without gratuity is going to cost $ 13772
The Entertainment is less than 10% of the budget.

Premier DJ Entertainment at an affair such as this is a great value at $1300.
And is indeed what most of the guests will remember most about the event.

Where is the ripp-off?

You certainly know your value.

Since you are so helpful and generous with your services, How's about some help with a question: Do Ramen noodles really provide a complete and balanced diet?

I actually raised my price a bit and started to offer a lower cost package with fewer services, sort of what the multi op I once worked for mainly did. Client can chose music for special dances, but I choose the rest of the special music for cake cutting, intros, etc. So far the only two clients I've booked since starting this went with the slightly higher package.

Real friends will not argue price with you......

Adam I think you are mistaking value and price. There are some DJs at $100 they are ripping the client off and there are others at $1500 that are providing good value and of course it works the other way around also

You are only ripping the client off if you don't provide value for the price

I think the one thing that matters the most here is. When everything is said and done. How do your clients feel. If they walk away happy telling you what an awesome job you did and how all there friends loved the reception. And if you walk down the street the next day and someone says hey didn't I see you at a wedding last night (True story happened to me today the wedding was last night.)

And you can say yes and then ask them if they had fun. And the only thing they can say was they had an awesome time and the wedding was a blast. Then did your clients get what they paid for? I would say yes its all about the value that not you but your client thinks of your services.

Gentlemen,

Me thinks Adam is just a pot stirrer, an antagonist, the proverbial fly in the ointment.
