I can see the justification for my last thread being closed.... Just for the record, I'd like to say something in my defense...

I am known here on the board in other threads for admitting openly I don't HAVE top of the line equipment, and being completely honest that I don't have a super high-quality setup... I even said in another thread yesterday that my first speakers were essentially (for the most part) made up of carpeted CARDBOARD! So this was no attempt to "one-up" anyone at all.

I just wanted to start a legitimate thread about aesthetics, performance issues, and even safety issues that can arise from different setups, etc... I am willing to admit it might have been better done in a different way, but I digress.

My initial post included some light-hearted jabs at the anonymous dj's involved, even though I refrained completely from naming any individuals: except for the last guy with the banner... I'll give you that. :)

My apologies to all if this was viewed as being done in bad taste, or a mean-spirited manner.

We here at ODJT attempt to keep within our community and if someone wants to post up their past setups as some have with humor and how not to comments its all good. Though you mentioned these being accessible from their sites and other sites , we choose not to use them here as those folks are not members and have no say in the issue. Hope this makes sense. I know you well enough to understand what your thoughts and intentions were no formal apology required.

You suck!

Luv ya. Mean it! (wink wink)

Now I gotta go read w t frig happened!

By the way, you should've seen my setup when I started having fun, the pics you posted look great compared to all the cables and junk I had all over the place many many many moons ago :D:D:D:D:D:D No offense taken by the post, like I said we all started somewhere and I still have the RS mixer :D:D:D:D:D

See this is where I feel luck... now my first setup wasn't necessarily the prettiest but it was certainly less of a train wreck than it could have been...

I spent a lot of time on the chat boards before my first event and while I felt pretty ready it was far from perfection...

I do much better now but after seeing soooooo many setups over the years I know I still have work to do....

All I wanted to see are the safety issues, on why some create a mess out of nothing at all

Yup, Im still a work in progress myself. I just like to think that my attentiveness to my customer needs and my knack for feeling the music compensates for whatever perceived shortcomings there may be in my gear. But, its always neat and prsentable and never any safety issues!
I saw the original thread and I thought it was hilarious, I never felt that it was a diss to anyone in particular.

What did I miss...? :sqerr:

Damn, I hate when I miss things...
What? Locked threads? Thought I was on Prodj there for a minute.:sqerr:

A locked thread and I didn't have anything to do with it? What the he!! is happening to me. Oh the shame, the utter shame. I'm letting everyone down. I am not worthy.:sqembarrassed:

All I wanted to see are the safety issues, on why some create a mess out of nothing at all

The safety issues surrounded one pic in particular where the guy had an EON on a tripod with the legs extended out BARELY half-way. All it wouldv'e taken was one toddler or kid running around and kicking the base for it to take a dive.

On the other side of the setup, same thing - this time a lighting stand about 14' tall with a t-bar... Two fixtures, and a mirror ball hanging down on one-side of the t-bar. The legs on the tri-pod were barely even extended - it looked like you could've BREATHED on the thing and knocked it over, and judging by the weight dispersion, it's obvious that it would've titled to that side with the ball.

It's those kinds of little things I was trying to point out for the benefit maybe of some newbie's, not just aesthetics.

Then there were the functionality/performance issues of speakers on stands that were barely at chest/shoulder-level.

That kind of thing.

So there ya go! Newbies take note!:sqlaugh:

I don't think a setup is ever as good as it could be. At least I'm always finding things I want to make look better.

See thats why I wanted to see them!!!!
