We used a Garmin Nuvi 250 on our trip to Hawaii last year. Not only did it work great, it provided entertainment as well because it couldn't pronounce any of the names.
The one that really sticks out in my memory is "Turn left on Com ee hom ee ha Highway"(with the pauses in between) which is how is said Kamehameha Highway which is pronounced kah-may-uh-may-uh (or simply Kam highway if you're a local).
