I don't think anyone knows you're from the UK since it's not in you profile.

Most speaker manufacturers recommend double the RMS or equal the program rating. That fiqure is 3200 watts into 4ohms for the JBL SRX728. Nothing is written in stone but it's a good number to start with.

Since you're in the UK have you checked out the Void amps?

Yeah I have, way too expensive, and not that very well known, so i'll stay away from them. QSC and Crown have excellent warrantys and are known all round the world as being top quality so those are my top 2 favourite, especially after having used both and been amazingly impressed.

Hey Jack since Germany is in your back yard why not give opinion on Bosch aka Dynacord amps? They will do a face to face (shoot out) show with any of those you have mentioned. No this isnt a horn tooting comment only want to find out opinion on the product in the UK.

QSC

PL340 Bridge-Mono mode: 4000 watts into 4 ohms. 1khz
PLX3602 Bridge-Mono mode: 3600 watts into 4 ohms. 1khz

CROWN

MA-5002VZ Bridge-Mono mode: 5000 watts into 4 ohms. 1khz
MA-3600VZ Bridge-Mono mode: 3505 watts into 4 ohms. 1khz

Bosch? I've never seen a Bosch amplifier in my life, never even heard of them making amplifiers. As for Dynacord, yeah i've hearda lot of good things about Dynacord. By the way, MIXSIRS, the 1khz ratings are useless for subs seeing as most people (anyone with at least half a brain) crosses the subs off at 120hz or lower, and doesn't run them at 1kz. Another amplifier I was looking at is the Electovoice P-3000 which is rated at 3,000 watts bridged into 4 ohms at full bandwidth (20hz-20khz). I only ever pay attention to the full bandwidth specs, then try and take off about 400 watts to give me a more accurate repesentation of how much power the amplifer will REALLY give out. The reason why I do this is because QSC's RMX-4050HD ius rated at giving out 2,800 watts into 8 ohms bridged, which is a 1khz rating, then the 20hz-20khz rating is rated at 2,600 watts bridged 8 ohms, then lastly the CE rating is 650 watts per channel into 8 ohms at 20hz-20khz, which is 200 watts lower than the standard 20hz-20khz rating. So i'm pretty sure roughly taking 400 watts off the 1khz spec gives you an idea of how much the amp might give out.

Jack,

It's been three pages so far. Have you found the answer you were looking for?

The only ones I can listen to is the Camco Vortex 6 and QSC RMX-2450. There aren't any other amps for hire that are within 140 miles of me from hire companies. Its the uk. there's nothing like what you guys got in the usa, where there's loads of hire companies with a broad range of amplifiers to hire out.

A Camco is a very fine amp...

2 of those would make those 728 sound great,

We had (2) of them powering the bands Nexo line arrays...Those things are workhorses..

Well it looks after reading that, that out of all those amps the best amp for me to go for to power the SRX728 sub would be either a Crown MA5000 or EV P3000. The EV P3000 I can get for as little £680 used and was only 1.2db down from the MA5000, and 1.2db isn't noticeable at all. The Crown MA5000 sells used for about £1,000. The Void Infinite 8 was the best, but they sell for £,1700 (RRP is £2,115) new and thats money that I just haven't got, which makes the EV P3000 my best best I think.

crown has some new I-Tech amps which carry some major power if you like.i think i've seen from the I-Tech 4000 up to the I-Tech 12000 HD which has 9000W @ 8ohms bridged.

I've got no chance of ebing to afford a Cornw I-Tech, not even an I-Tech 4000 because they sell for £2,600 in the uk, which is $4,300. Thats absolutely miles out of my budget. The most I can afford for an amplifer is £1,000 which is $,1600. It takes me 4 weeks to save up £1,300. I've seen the Crown MA5000vz which a good option, but it only gives 1,700 watts per channel into 4 ohms stereo at 20hz-20khz. Pitty cos people say its an awesome amplifier for running subwoofers. I'm hiring out a Camco Vortex 6 in march next year for a party i'm doing, after i've got my 2nd JBL SRX728 sub, so i'm gonna run them on that, see hwo they perform. I can use a mono cable to run into the Camco amplifier so the subs run in dual mono. I might try and look at buying a couple of Crown MA3600vz amps next year to finally run the SRX728 subs, with 1 sub running off each MA3600vz in 4 bridged mode.

I use one I-tech 8000 for two 728s and the bass hits amazingly hard and clear!
Before I could afford I-techs I used a Qsc 3102 bridged for one 728 and it worked just fine. I personally wouldn't run the 728 with any less than 3000w. It's an amazing speaker and will handle much more. I just did a music fest and ran 4000w per 728 for 12 hrs straight. They just keep on pumping!

Hi, I'm new to this forum.

Just wanted to give my input on the subject. I own 4 srx728s subs and I power them each with a bridged plx3602 using a dbx 260 for processing and they sound amazing!
These subs love power and WILL take almost anything you throw at them. I have also used a rmx4050 for 1 sub and it handles it with ease. The one thing I can tell you that will be very important in powering those subs is that you will need a lot of power from the wall. I Recommend a good distro or else your never going to get the most out of that sub. I also do shows like raves that require a lot of bass and the shows last around 8 hours. Those subs can handle that power.

These I-Techs are your best bet You saved for the sub, save again for a good amp to power it.

Testimonial from actual user above....... Me, I have an I-Tech 4000 and an 8000. I also have a 5000VZ, if you can find a 5000VZ/5002VZ that is in good shape, these are suitable alternatives, however they carry 30 amp plugs and want good current. If you play in places where the electricity is questionable, the I-Tech's are far more tolerant than 5000/5002VZ's will be.

Good luck......don't screw yourself by settling forr less than what works right with you SRX sub, or you'll be good friends with your reconing guy.

Paul, are you saying one I-tech 8000 for two 728s is to much wattage? The guy I bought the amp from says they run four 728s off the IT-8000. That would be 1875w per sub @ 2ohms. I haven't tried that yet cuz I'm hesitant about running an amp at a 2ohm load. What do u think

That I-Tech is a big boy amp and can run a 2 ohm load, no problem what so ever. It better have very good power feeding it though.

I drive a pair of SR4719X JBL subs with the I-Tech 8000. This will get it done for you as well with the 728. I'd like to pick up the newer SRX subs myself, however I have spare drivers and a good investment into my 4719X's......and I like how they sound.

I know the I-Tech 8000 is strong $$$ where you are at, however this won't let you down, and it'll stay with you for a long time.

Best,

Paul
