Agreed. It's the reason I didn't attend (and I liked the look of the speaker lineup). We returned late sunday night (midnight) from a 10 day long event...not really eager to take off for a convention after that. My lawn needs mowed, my cats are lonely, my horses need some attention....and I have no clean clothes! Sometimes it's nice to be home for a bit. Vegas often works out for us...though not always because of winter school dances.
Yeah, I know Drax and crew are sponsoring, but Ryan and crew usually do the event planning and implementation.
I just think it would be much better (for the DJ community), if they stuck with the winter and late summer/fall shows.
If you do too many shows, you saturate your paying audience (the ones who will buy big ticket items, sponsor booths, etc.). They'll get to the point of saying "Oh, just another DJ show, I'll try to make it to the next one"...
oh no he sold his soul to the De---!!!! The world is all but finished. Where is the Leopard Coat? and the Bling?
If anyone is interested in hearing how I enjoyed the show, I would love to talk via pm with you. I have no desire to continue this thread since some choose to relect on the negative instead of the positives they can recieve.
Btw, I will share that our (my son and I) thouroughly enjoyed our time with Keith, Ben & Kat. They are some great people! Thanks!!

I agree 100% that with summer being so short, this is a horrible time to hold events like this.
My calender thinks January and March seem to be the best two months for me. Ok..well not march..lol...thats my sons bday and me and my wifeys anniversary. So any january events?

Yeah, but unlike the jabs at the worthers, or bose or denon, or whatever, we had members go to a convention...regardless of trying to get members any convention does that...to maybe learn something and pick up some new tips and tricks.
I personally liked reading what Randy and Keith had to say and you can bet if something really sparked my interest I'd have asked a question or two.

Just got back from Chicago with Jake Jacobsen, President of The NJDJN.
This was the first ever, American Disc Jockey Association Conference and Expo.
It was not without a few bugs and conflicts, but, except for some logistical annoyances, mostly associated with the conference commencing during the weekend, Dr Drax and his wife should be commended for putting this thing together and making it happen. Attendance was, I believe, far less than hoped for, but never-the-less, reasonable.
Whew! What a whirlwind trip. We arrived on Sunday just before noon Chicago time, and didn't stop until we got back to O'Hare Airport on Tuesday evening.
Met so many fellow DJ's, almost impossible to name them all. Great seeing Randy, Hired Power, Kat, Ben, Randy, Drew, PAt, Mark, Jasmine (current DJ Entertainer of The Year) and literally dozens of other great , wonderful peple!
The seminars were excellent, and the prices at the equipment expo were incredible!
Deep deep discounts on lighting! And some new Chauvet entries were unleashed.
Best value of the day had to be The Chauvet Color Splash 2. Selling for less than $200.
Additional deep discounts on speakers, both active and passive, were also found.
Ben from NFLX had an excellent booth, complete with a side by side comparison of the QSC K Series Speakers and the competitive EV line. You had to hear it to believe it! He also had a full display of the latest lighting and lasers. And as always, was prepared to beat any price!
Ben presented an intense, albeit sometimes boring, technical seminar covering sound & lighting issues. He went deeply into DMX and imparted some worthy tips.
As always, Mike Walter's seminar was delivered with great content, excellent preparation, and superb execution.
Mark Imperial's seminar was intense, fast moving, and offered some uniquie marketing ideas.
Big Daddy McKee's DJ'ing with Passion was exactly that, impassioned. He imparted tremendous emotion in his delivery.
Jeffrey Craig, owner of one of the most successful Entertainment businesses in the country, shared his keys to success, in what I believe was his best to date effort in seminar delivery.
Randy Bartlett teamed up with his friend Peter Merry for two informative , yet extremely comical and entertaining seminars on how to properly use a microphone and better ways to make introductions. Peter Merry's un-planned sub-titles during Bartlett's presentation will undoubtedly be the topic of many discussions over the next few weeks.
Andy Ebon presented extremely informative information on Facebook and social networking, as well as a great inspring keynote speech on Sunday evening.
Somewhere in between all of this, JAke and I found time to travel into the city and see The Sear's Tower, have dinner at Pizzeria UNO (The Original), walk the famed Chicago River walkway, and vist The Navy Pier for some enjoyable sightseeing and R&R.
All in all, it was a very worthwhile trip,and I wholeheartedly advise everyone to make a fervrent attempt to attend the next ADJA Conference.

The weather was gorgeous. Mostly sunny, even though rain had been pedicted initially. Temps were in the low 80's during the day, and the lower 70's during the night. It was breezy from time to time. Walking by the river was very enjoyable, the Navy Pier was extraordinary, and the sunset--magnificent!
On Sunday, there had to be at least 100,000 people at the NAvy Pier.
The pier offered an incredible Live Latin Band, a great doo-wop singng quartet, great food and ice cold beer.
We went back on Monday evening following the Pizza at The Original UNO and a walk along the Riverfront to shed some of the pounds gained at dinner.
If I had to describe Chi Town in one word---it would have to be CLEAN!

No, I didn't bring my camera to the seminars, nor the exhibit hall. Frankly, I was just too tired. Also, it was specifically requested to not photograph or videotape or record the seminars in any manner. Had a great wedding Saturday night that eliminated any chance of rest before the trip, so my butt was dragging the whole time..
The exhibit hall was small, much like the Mobile Beat Summer Show of 2006 in Connecticut. It was real nice not having to muddle through the huge crowds that are usually encountered at The Atlantic City Expo every year.
There were approximately 30 vendors I would guess.
The seminars were filled with great content. They ranthe seminars side by side. Busibness vs Performance. There was only one presentation of each seminar, so you had to choose the more worthwhile one to attend.
However.....ADJA had professional video taping at every seminar, and will be providing all attendees with the ability to view the videos. The content of the seminars has all been copyrighted by the presenters.
As for were the seminars different than past seminars?
Not really. The content seemed updated, and was interesting.
I would say though that each of the presenters was fully prepared.
I have been at seminars in the past where the presenters totally flopped in regard to preparation.
I did not care for the venue. It was nice and all, but the air walls hardly suppressed the activity of the neighboring room.
This presented some conflict due to next room audio spill-over.

The QSC employs an innovative new sound technology in the way it produces sound. Incredible lower end sound from small speakers is possible.
The EV speakers demonstrated better sound clarity with less bottom end.
If you are looking for something that mimmicks the clarity of the Bose Sticks, the EV is the choice. Absolutely great for weddings etc.
If you are looking for a easy to carry system for school dances (that require lots of uummph) my vote is for the QSC.
